I have to give it 1 star because of the way I was treated last night, I called Dennys at San Ysidro Ca. 92173 to place a to go order, like i do all the time , in fact morning people know me well as a faithful customer, and last night i was shocked by the way the woman taking my order treated me, while i was giving her the order she stopped me and asked: before you order anymore , is you’r order $50 dlls or more? I responded maybe close to $50 but could be a few dlls less , and the woman responded : Well if it’s not $50.00 or more , No ! you cannot place the because I’m not taking it, I said to her : excuse me I’m a regular customer and I always place the order and pick it up, the woman insisted I couldn’t place the order if it was less then $50 dlls , at that point I asked to speak to the manager or supervisor which the woman responded saying: I’m the Manager as well as the supervisor and I don’t have time to be arguing with people like you and she hung up the phone , I tried calling back but the call would go straight to voice mail. I was very upset by the rudeness of this woman , so I decided to jump in my car and go personally to buy food . As I walk in i was standing there for someone to come and take my order , looked like the woman knew she was wrong , or suspected i was the one who called , so she tells a young guy , I don’t want to take her order , can you take it for me and the young comes and asked: are you placing a to go order? Me: yes ! ok So i give him my order , didn’t mention anything at all that i was the person who called before and the woman refused to take my order… but aim 100% sure woman knew it was me , and honestly i went to in person to see who this woman is so i have a good description of her since she refused to give me her name , claiming she was the manager , it was hard to read her badge name because she was avoiding me totally and most of the time i was waiting for my food she was by the kitchen standing looking my way. I already did a complaint on her . And i hope they consider how bad she treats customers. Supposedly she told me the reason for asking for orders to be more then $50 dlls is because someone order and never picked it up ! And so now the order has to be $50dlls or more which i feel she’s not very smart because the same way someone can place an order worth $100.00 dlls and not pick it up and Dennys would loose more the bigger the order is as to if it was $12 dlls order not picked up the loss is less!! So definitely if this was my Restaurant i don’t think she would have a job after...
Read moreAfter a full morning of medical appointments, mom and I were so hungry we could eat a possum. Luckily we didn’t have to because Denny’s was right off the freeway.
Mom ordered a self made Grand Slam and I ordered the Country Fried Steak meal of two patties, mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was great, and not just because we were hungry. My plate had so much food on it, I got full and took leftovers for dinner later that night. Yes, 2-for-1 is a great deal. Mom’s pancakes were so thick and large, they had their own area code!
Our server, Guadalupe A. was running around with her head cut off taking care of every table around and beyond us. I swear it that woman is part octopus the way she handles plates and tasks that other eateries have three people to cover. Honestly, she deserves a raise. Whatever they are paying her cannot be enough! She wrangled our orders and handled adding donut holes and a smoothie to go with precision and skills that are missing from the workplace these days. I hope she’s my server when we return again and again.
There are people behind the scenes patrons normally don’t see or notice. You couldn’t help but see Placido as he was back and forth clearing tables like it was nobody’s business. He stacked, packed, and cleared dishes so patrons didn’t have to enjoy their coffee and discussions over dirty dishes. That is a true service that needs to be commended and acknowledged. He was Johnny on it for real! Placido was pleasant to talk to and I let him know how much he was appreciated. Like Guadelupe, he too deserves a raise. He has certainly earned it!
The tables could not be filled and served without people like Placido and Guadelupe doing what they do. It is this highly set bar of customer service and satisfaction that brings patrons back in. I certainly hope management recognizes what we had a front row seat to see. Perfection. Absolute...

I'm exhausted from flying across the country from Florida to California, so I wanted to go get breakfast someplace close to the hotel that I'm staying at.
I always loved Dennys so that's where I decided to go for breakfast this morning. It was 7 minutes from my hotel.
I was lucky to have a fantastic waitress. I built my own Grand Slam featuring two eggs over medium two slices of turkey bacon two slices of toast and hash browns. Something I've had many, many times, and many, many Denny's across the United States.
When the food was brought out to me it was lukewarm at best. The waitress came over and noticed I wasn't eating. She asked me what was wrong. I told her that the eggs and the hash browns were lukewarm at best. They were not even close to being enjoyable temperature.
She offered to have the meal recooked, which was what I would normally have done under most circumstances. I asked her if it would be possible to microwave my food for 90 seconds to a couple of minutes.
She asked if I was sure. I thought that would be fine, I'm okay with that.
She zapped my breakfast in the microwave for a couple minutes.
Once it was hot enough, I was able to enjoy the breakfast. That extra couple minutes in the microwave was perfect. The eggs tasted amazing, the turkey bacon was great, hash browns were perfect.
I'm really not going to talk about Denny's coffee. The coffee is always great to me
I will likely give this restaurant another chance at Breakfast before I leave to go...
