My sister came along with me to San Diego for work from Irvine, and I give her the credit for finding this place. WOW! This place blew me away.
Our order: šµ two 20 oz matcha lattes - 10/10 thank you so much for putting the right amount of ice - not too much!! Our matcha lattes did not feel diluted at all. The additional $0.50 we paid for the extra 4 oz was well worth it. š„£ Mediterranean bowl - 10/10, what a delicious combination of ingredients! I want to make this at home as a pick me up. It reminded me of the best parts of pesto pasta but without any pasta! šÆ Soy Chorizo burrito - 10/10 we were told that the so Cal burrito is also a popular menu item. The personal preference of our cashier was the soy chorizo burrito and it did not fail!! The two are essentially the same except the type of meat (for the most part, so weāre told hahaha)
What drew us to this place has been the featuring of Paruteaās matcha. The matcha quality truly is amazing. Itās delicious.
The plating was crisp and clean - everything about the restaurant was seamlessly put together. It was a haven for good food and a way to start the morning peacefully! Thereās a good number of people trickling in as soon as the restaurant opened.
The people here are kind, present, and respectful. Iām so grateful for you all.
They offer milk alternatives including pistachio milk! The food is cooked to just the right temperature where the flavors stand out because of the temperature at which the food is presented.
Next time - I canāt wait to try the pastries š God...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe problem with the matcha latte was 90% milk 10% matcha I felt I was drinking a cup of milk. Itās a large cup so they didnāt think about the ratio normally one scoop of matcha is fine for a small cup but not large. I went back add another scoop of matcha but idk I think it was either too late because he had to add more water to the extra scoop to mix it throughly and it still tasted bland overall. Maybe next time I need to try 2 scoops right away and if itās not sufficient add a third scoop.
My matcha latte was lacking and useless at that point so I went back and ordered an iced coffee with extra shot espresso and it tasted way better.
I read another review commenting on how their coffee sucked so I could see how this coffee shop has their challenges.
If you like traditional Japanese matcha, down the road at Blue Whale their matcha latte was perfect and because I like it strong I still did add another scoop but the powder they use the flavor was there right away.
Iād be hesitant to try that again here but I did like their iced coffee, and my boyfriend enjoyed their cold brew. Their burrito looks good so Iāll give that a shot one day.
Front desk cashier man was kind so service was fast and efficient nonetheless. And I enjoyed it being a quieter cafe not loud. I hate hearing loud...
Ā Ā Ā Read morecame in here on a whim, the service was terrible from the start. the baristas gave us shifty looks from the moment we walked in, the customer service was dry to say the least. while i don't fault this next nuisance on them, another customer in the corner had a sour and dirty look on her face while staring my mother down. one of the baristas went out of his way to bring coffee to another patron outside (where i also sat) meanwhile the two lattes i had ordered were left sitting on the counter inside, never once called out. i typically don't venture outside of north park and chula vista given the stellar service i've received there, don't waste your time or $14 for poor customer service and...
