Was treated unwelcome from the beginning by Server Justin. Purchased entree and Soda. While eating found a small black hair in my food. Told the Server. He stated the hair wasn't there when food was brought, then accused me of wanting it "for free." Went to ask the "Owner" about, came back, said the Owner wants me to pay, since most was eaten. Not my fault when I found, the hair, but they didn't believe me. When I told the Server about not feeling welcome, he got extremely angry and hostile while the old Asian man cook watched on silently, but as I left, the old c cook laughed or smiled at my dog. Next day, I called the Owner. Told her how happy I was to enjoy her food, her place, until there was a hair in my food. She repeated, "No, not possible we put hair there, when you ate it all almost." I stated "it's NOT possible?" She refused to refund me. It was nearly $30. I told her I could get the hair analyzed, to be sure, then she would be sorry, she didn't comp the meal, lose good customer, plus have bad reviews, plus maybe pay almost $3k instead of $30. She stated I threatened her, and hung up on me, telling me not to call there aga. I didn't even get to drink my soda at nearly $5 cost, had to leave it due to Server Justin's anger and hostility and not feeling welcome. Right after, a Female named "Victoria" showed up sitting next to me at Starbucks down the street. She made contact with my dog first, calling her "my girl." "Victoria" told me, I could sit down as we were talking & that she is well aware of this restaurant, "Shanghai Bun" "goes there often", "sits for hours", "gets brought free food" from the Place/ Owner. Said, I "must have set them off", they are really nice, and I "really don't want to make waves over a nearly $30 plate of food" as "the locals will make it really difficult for myself there." I don't have ALOT of money, so when I choose a place to eat, I want to be happy and enjoy myself, because my money is not alot. Shanghai Bun, made me feel awful, unwelcomed and discriminated upon, even though I wanted to have a good and happy experience, despite their...
Read moreMy fiancee and I heard about Shanghai Bun, and we got excited to try some new dim sum. Unfortunately, we never got to eat any food because of the horrible service and long wait time for simple menu items. We were the first table to arrive, and the blonde "waitress" or whatever she was barely look up when she welcomed us and then said to sit wherever we like. We proceeded to the back and before we sat down, a brunette employee (I think an owner or manager) came over and wiped down our table with her mask hanging on her chin, which is against the rules. Then the waitress came by and asked for our order. We weren't ready yet, so she left. A large table of people started to arrive, and having extensive experience in the food service industry, I wanted to get our order in before theirs. Five minutes later, the waitress still hadn't returned, so I got up to go find her. She was taking a to-go order, and gave me serious attitude when I asked her to come take our order. The attitude extended during the order taking, and she had the nerve to return with my fancy drink and literally say "well, here's that!" We waited for 25 minutes for a few of the tapas/dim sum, and finally decided to get our order to go because we didn't have time. I went and asked the "server," who was on the phone taking another to-go order, and she gave me attitude and argued with me. I was tired of dealing with her, so I approached the other woman and asked the same thing. She LITERALLY pulled down her mask to her chin to talk to us while being around 3 feet away, and she gave us the same argument. My fiancee asked her to pull up her mask, but I was done with the entire situation. We walked out after 45 minutes without getting a single food item, and I...
Read morePlease do not waste your time dining here. I placed a to-go order for pick up at a specific time. Let me start off my saying that I am in no way a picky eater. I ordered the shrimp dumplings (har gow), pork and shrimp shu mai, spicy wontons, beef bulgogi tacos, and shrimp and crab egg rolls. First, the food was cold and stale as if it had been made days ahead, then reheated hours before the pick up time. Second, the beef in the bulgogi tacos was very dry and tough. Third, the egg rolls were more like spring rolls (very small) and VERY greasy. Fourth, the spicy wontons were congealed and clumped together and lacked flavor. Fifth, the shu mai had NO shrimp in it whatsoever and the pork that was in it was gristley. Extremely poor quality and bad service as well. The app that I ordered through gave the option of curbside pick up, but when I called to have my order brought to me, the person on the phone had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, I said that I would just come in to retrieve my order and the person just hung up on me. When I got inside, it seemed as if no one was there. Then someone came from the kitchen (I'm assuming it was the same person I spoke with on the phone) and said they would be right there and proceeded to do whatever else in the empty restaurant. After a few minutes of waiting, I finally got my order and came home to eat the most disappointing meal of my life. The only okay item was the har gow, but that was not enough to make me content with the other horrible items and lack of customer service. My advice: save your money and your appetite and avoid this place...
