'Na Pizza makes some of the best pizzas in the city, so I'm a multi-repeat customer. Their pastas are great, too. Unfortunately, the restaurant is also superlatively uncomfortable, so I strongly recommend getting takeout and not trying to dine in.
They blast energetic club music incessantly, and the tables are crammed together, so the noise level indoors is off the charts. I've eaten indoors exactly once because of that, and I've always otherwise requested to sit outdoors. But then, really, for a pleasant experience you have to hope for one of the corner tables in the parklet, and if you're banking on getting one of those two out of perhaps 40 tables at this establishment, your odds are bad.
Outdoors, it's windy, and I mean it gets persistent strong breezes off the bay through the Marina District, and you have to hold down your menu and plate liners or else. They provide blankets for all outdoor diners because of the constant wind, and the parklet has solid walls and heaters. The tables near the restaurant wall have heaters but still get all the music and the wind. On at least three occasions we've been seated at small table that is right on the sidewalk, unsheltered and pinched by the path for the waiters to get to the parklet, with crowds of people walking by. That's chilly, cramped, disruptive, and a source of worry for those of us who carry purses. Plus, the tables have slick metal cutwork surfaces, so if they aren't level, which that one is not, the slightest bump will send your wine glass sliding down the table. (And if you spill anything it could go right through the table.) Last night we requested a napkin or other grippy material to help with this, and it never arrived. At that table I feel constantly on guard, which makes the meal a stressful experience. The staff are often so busy that if you need something, you'll be lucky to have somebody come by 10 or 15 minutes later. By the time the food arrives, which often takes a WHILE, I am ready to leave.
Overall, the effect of the restaurant is that the food is memorably delicious, enough to eventually override my memory of reasons not to go back, and I get optimistic about days with nice weather, but when I dine in I'm reminded all over again why I kind of hate...
Read moreIâve been coming to 'Napizza for several years now and have always appreciated the delicious food, welcoming service, and laid-back atmosphere. But what inspired me to finally leave a review was my visit last nightâTuesday, August 5th, 2025âwhat Iâll now refer to as âthe night of the perfect storm.â
When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by Sarah, who seated me at a cozy corner table. At the time, there were only a few other guestsâpretty typical for a Tuesday evening. But within just 30 minutes, the entire restaurant filled up. Around 10 to 15 tables were seated almost all at once, and I quickly realized there was only one Sarah managing the floor.
Curious to see how it would all play out, I placed an appetizer order and settled in, expecting things to unravel. Instead, I watched as Sarah handled the rush with grace and professionalismâkindly engaging with each table, taking complex orders without rushing, and keeping her composure the entire time. It was genuinely impressive.
Was my dining experience flawless? Not exactly. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed with the sheer volume of dine-in and to-go orders, and the food took quite a while to arrive. But the way the situation was handledâespecially by Sarahâwas so admirable that I felt compelled to share it.
When you visit a neighborhood restaurant like this, you come for the quality, the heart, and the human experience. You donât expect the fast-paced precision of a big chain, and honestly, thatâs part of the charm. A little patience and empathy as a guest go a long way.
(And one last note: the pizza in my photo is no longer on the menuâthis is my official plea to...
Read moreVacationing in CA from CT. During our day in SF we looked for a place off the beaten path for pizza. We came upon Napizza. It was late afternoon and a relatively quiet time. We were quickly greeted and welcomed by the staff and chef. True Italians! We were a party of 10 and we were comfortably seated. We ordered several of the 12â pies. Being a New Englander I am always skeptical of pizza away from our region. Well, sceptic no more. We were all absolutely blown away. The crust was thin, light and crispy-cooked to perfection. The red sauce was marvelous; not too strong, not too sweet. I got the Mortazza pizza and it was fabulous. One of my daughters had the Margherita pizza and it, too, was fabulous. And while there were plenty of other choices at the table, these were the only two I tried. I noticed once people got a taste, they became hesitant to give any morsel away. I have to say, we took nothing home from the entire table. Every piece was gone. This place is doing it right. Great food, great atmosphere and excellent staff! Highly...
