I live in the area, but normally go to Cup of Joe. I've been a couple of times to Another Cafe and I think it's pricey but I like the space. Don't ask me why but on Sunday I really wanted to get some work done at a coffee shop, and I went to this one. The 2 people at the counter, the barista and who I'm guessing it's the owner, cause I've seen him before and definitely walks around as if he owned the place (not a compliment). Anyway I order an americano, I leave a tip even though there was no courtesy whatsoever, other than pushing a button to make a below average coffee.
I'm sitting down, minding my own business, doing some work and I took out one yogurt that I'd brought from home. The owner goes to the bathroom (I was sitting next to the door) and just stares at me without saying a word. I remove my headphones and he says "you can't be eating here". I apologized and said I didn't know, he continued to ramble something in a rude way so I just kind of blocked it. It left me with a terrible taste and really wanted to leave right away.
As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years (fine dining), I understand where he's coming from; but at the same time, you have to give a break to the customers. What if someone has severe allergies? or eats kosher/halal food that you won't be able to provide? or just doesn't want to eat your crappy food after reading all the reviews about the overpriced and tasteless sandwiches you sell at your establishment?
Crazy idea: maybe if you don't want people eating something that wasn't sold by you at your establishment; how about you write a sign that says so?
Haven't been there in a while, and trust me, won't go back again. They treat customers as if they were doing us all a favor. Many places around Nob Hill to pick from; where you won't feel like an...
Read moreI originally left a review sharing my negative experience with this café—poor service, rude staff, and questionable hygiene practices. Instead of reflecting on their behavior or addressing the issue like a normal business, they tracked down my employer and emailed my boss to try and silence me.
Yes, you read that correctly: a café that sells mediocre coffee thought the best response to criticism was to try to intimidate me through my workplace.
This isn’t just bad customer service—it’s unethical. A business that can’t handle feedback and resorts to personal retaliation shouldn’t be supported by the community.
Be warned: if you have a bad experience here and say so publicly, they may come after you too. There are plenty of cafés with better coffee, better food, and infinitely...
Read moreI normally don't write negative reviews but the service here was pretty brutal so thought it deserved one. When I went in the two baristas just stared at me in silence as if I went in when they were closed. I asked for a large iced coffee and they continued to stare. Without saying anything still, she poured a hot coffee and started to ring me up. I said "sorry I wanted iced" and she said "Oh, but I already poured this hot one..." In order to leave ASAP I just said I'd take the hot one. When I was paying she said "You need to leave a tip." but wouldn't let me see the screen to choose one. Finally tipped and left but don't plan on ever returning. The coffee was decent too (thus the extra star), wish I got what I...
