What a gem. Always passed it by and always wanted to try it out. So glad we did!!!
Made a reservation for table for 4 few days before we went there. It was Friday night. I re called the day itself to confirm and then called again to say we were 30min late. They were so friendly and polite over the phone to still welcome us eventhough we were running late and this place is fairly small.
We arrived and sat outside for 5min as our table was getting ready. They have about 4 tables outside, a good seating of 10 people inside and 10 more people in a small seating upstairs.
Inside it felt like an old ancient place but so cozy! Everyone is so welcoming and so Italian :) I speak Italian myself so enjoyed talking to the staff who were making jokes right and left and being so warm to all the clients.
Between the 4 of us we shared:
Arang e Fenugn Fasul e Calamari Linguini di mare Ravioli pecorata Spaghetti Pizzaiola Aglio Uoglio
Everything was so simple but so tasty and delicious. Just like food in Italy. Pastas were amazing and the appetisers like fasul and calamari really stood out!
We ended strong with panacota and a slice of the limoncello cake. That limoncello cake though...
I can't wait to try this place again. Miss that warm fuzzy feeling of great Italian food and company in such a cozy ambience :)...
Read moreThis has been the worst service I have ever encountered dining out. I had a reservation for 4 at 6:45. While we waited for 2 members of our party to find parking, which is notoriously difficult in North Beach, I politely asked the owner whether we could sit down first since it was a chilly evening and I didn't have a jacket. He had already mentioned at that point that the table was ready and he could seat us as soon as the rest of our party arrived so I thought it wouldn't be a problem. Not only did he refuse, he wouldn't even let us inside. I understand if it's your restaurant's policy to not seat guests until the full party has arrived but to force them to wait outside in the cold and refuse to offer any sort of indoor accommodation -- even if it's just a waiting area -- is appalling. I told him to just cancel our reservation as we were no longer interested in dining there. He then proceeded to chase us outside and tell us how unreasonable we were being. I don't care how good your food is -- that is an unacceptable way to treat your customers, especially coming...
Read moreGot drawn into this cute little old school trattoria because of its uni pasta! Yes, by little, I mean tiny. There is only enough space on the first floor for three tables inside and two small tables outside. I think there is an upstairs area too, but it's probably just as cozy. The uni pasta did not disappoint! I was actually sad that I had to share it with my friends during dinner. I wanted it all for myself! We also tried the porchetta, which I didn't like as much. I'm not one to shy away from fatty meat, in fact, I love fatty steak, but this was beyond greasy. I felt like I was drinking bacon oil. I was slightly disappointed by the bread they served before the meal as well. I was expecting piping hot fresh-baked Italian bread, but instead we got a generic stale and cold french baguette. The olive oil with marinaded chopped garlic that came with the bread made up for it a little though. I would come back though just for the uni pasta if I happen to be...
