After being asked to sit down to order (to which I replied I was only ordering a drink to go), the gal at the front repeatedly asked me if I was with another group of women. I kept telling her no, and that was just ordering a drink. She kept asking me if I was with this group of women as if I had suddenly forgot I was with a party of people which was just awkward. Essentially anytime she asked me a question she never addressed me specifically either, which just lead to a whole lot of me being like wait, who is she talking to? She’s facing literally away from me but it seems the question is directly at me. Anyway, that’s not why I’m giving 2 stars. Just another little funny bonus to this experience lol
I tried to order a lavender mocha and was just told “no” aggressively as soon as I asked, and then the No was followed by an awkward amount of silence while I waited to see if she just meant in general, “nope I’m not allowed to order”, or if she was joking. I kind of gave this look of “I’m not sure if you’re joking or just have no tact” considering their menu said they have both lavender, and mocha? After what felt like an eternity and a lot of “uhhhh” on my part, she explained that the lavender is house made and wouldn’t be strong enough to taste. What irked me was the fact she didn’t just explain that and then let me decide that for myself was a little irritating. But the worst part was half way through my very under average mocha, I got 3 dog hairs in my mouth. It was almost like a chunk of dog hair?
Overall, just a very awkward, confusing, rude, and gross experience lol.
Giving one extra star for the fact that there is a dog somewhere in there, so I assume they’re dog people to which I felt deserved a star because dogs are...
Read moreAlthough the staff seem very nice, and the little one table place is very charming, I think that this place is quite literally over-rated (4.6 at the time of writing). I had the frittata which had brussel sprouts, potato, broccoli and feta, but I could not taste the prosciutto. The egg feels overcooked (not super rubbery, but not a nice texture either), but overall it was just okay tasting (but very pretty). It came with a tiny side salad of mixed greens, a couple of grapes and mandarin slices, served with a chive aioli which was a bit too tart for my taste. Presentation was absolutely beautiful. But the dish was $7.50 for a place with counter service and limited seating, and a relatively small portion size. And if you're only going to have 4 dishes (cereal, toast with mascapone, egg on croissant, and frittata), each one should be delicious. I didn't even really feel like finishing it and immediately wished I had ordered the egg on croissant instead. The drip coffee today was also not to my taste (prefer earthy to fruity and acidic). The ingredients did seem fresh, however, and in terms of appearances, everything looked very nice. Wish it had lived up to the previous reviews though, and to be honest, I don't understand why people gushed (though the staff did seem very friendly). Opens at 8 am on Sat (in case you find 7:30 am on the internet, as I did). It was nice to have veggies in a breakfast dish though. If I had gone to a diner, I probably would wind up getting an egg breakfast...
Read moreAdorable tiny place if you want to grab a semi-quick breakfast on a Saturday morning. For SF, it is rather quick but there's still a line and a wait for your food. The limited menu has quick bites to eat like a croissant with boiled egg and ham, a savory tart but my must have was the daily toast. The prices may seem a little high for the items, but you are getting quality ingredients. My daily toast was a work of art and delicious. It had the right amount of mascarpone that wasn't overly sweet and a variety of fresh fruit. I was just thrilled to finally have a place serve me fruit for breakfast. Why is that? I'm allergic to melon and usually most places have melon in their fruit salads or breakfast plates. The brioche was toasted nicely and held everything together. I also tried the matcha chai latte and if you like matcha, then you'll like this. The only downside was my friend ordered the same thing and hers came after mine and it wasn't as nice. There was a consistency issue. I know they're busy, so that may...
