I had the pleasure of visiting Hard Knox Cafe in San Francisco recently, and it was an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment I stepped in, the cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff made me feel right at home.
For my meal, I ordered the Fried Chicken Plate, which came with a generous serving of collard greens and macaroni and cheese. Let me tell you, this was some of the best comfort food I’ve ever had!
The fried chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the seasoning was spot on. It’s evident that they take great care in preparing their fried chicken, making it a standout dish that I will crave for days to come.
The collard greens were cooked to perfection, maintaining a lovely texture without being overly mushy. They had a delightful hint of smokiness, and the seasoning complemented the greens wonderfully.
Now, the Macaroni and Cheese! Oh my goodness, this was pure indulgence. Creamy, cheesy, and rich, it was the ultimate comfort food that left me utterly satisfied. The combination of cheeses used created a delectable harmony of flavors that had me scraping the plate until every last morsel was gone.
The portion sizes were more than generous, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served.
I must also commend the friendly and attentive staff. They were quick to offer suggestions and made sure I had everything I needed throughout my meal.
Hard Knox Cafe has undoubtedly mastered the art of comfort food. Whether you’re a local or a visitor to San Francisco, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates flavorful and soul-satisfying dishes.
In conclusion, my dining experience at Hard Knox Cafe was outstanding. The fried chicken plate with collard greens and macaroni and cheese was a symphony of flavors, and I left with a full stomach and a big smile. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their delicious offerings. Highly...
Read moreSo I've never had chicken and waffles...crazy I know since I'm from socal and have waitressed for a southern restaurant once upon a time ago. But my friend mentioned fried chicken and I immediately started drooling. I've been wanting to try Hard Knox for awhile too since it's so close to my place.
And boy was I happy! I rushed in 25 mins before closing but it was still pretty packed and they were kind enough to seat us. We ordered their chicken and waffles and a side of their mac and cheese. We prob looked like fatties (we are two small Asian girls) and should have known to just share one entree instead of getting one each but I guess we're just greedy like that and were blinded with hunger, which resulted in overestimating ourselves. Apparently there was a bet between a waiter and customer about how much we could eat. Too bad I didn't know, but I guess that's good since I avoided that I-just-ate-too-much-I-cant-move feeling.
That being said, it was def yummy! Just put a little gravy, hot sauce, and syrup, mix it all together and you're in heaven. Also, best mac and cheese I've ever had! I'm always craving KFC's mac and cheese so I'm happy that I found a closer replacement. Will def come back more and try the other stuff on the menu.
UPDATE - Their fried chicken country steak and blackened catfish...
Read moreWe spent over $400 for horrible food and service. The guy who said he was the manager Got mad because my grandson didn't like the nasty oxtail. Just in case you don't know you're supposed to brace the oxtails before you cook them. They were grey they used the same gravy for everything. It's like they made one big pot of gravy and put it on everything that called for gravy. And let's not talk about that potato salad there's no way that was freshly made potato salad it was horrible... The manager also got mad because we told him we're a group of black people who cook and we're telling you this is not good down home Southern cooking. The best thing about eating at this place was when we were walking out the door. Never ever ever ever again get some black people who know how to cook Southern food in there. Oh and the little manager said that the cook refused to take the food back I've never been to a restaurant that refused to take the food back when the patron didn't like the cooking. They had no desire to make sure that the patron my grandson was satisfied with his meal no desire at all instead he was offended and upset. Trust me there are more one star reviews to follow. Please do yourself a favor and go to Miss Ginnys in Oakland. It's in the hood but it's all so good. We should have stuck with what we...
