High Horse — Restaurant in San Francisco

As a horse who's definitely feeling a bit elevated, I trotted into High Horse Bar in San Francisco expecting just another watering hole, but boy, was I surprised! This place is a real thoroughbred among bars. 🐴

First off, let's talk about the cocktails. They have a galloping good variety of drinks that are sure to stirrup your spirits! Each one is crafted with great quality ingredients, making it hard to pick just one favorite. And if you’re in the mood for something simple but effective, their beer and shot combo on the menu is just the ticket. Neigh bad at all!

Now, onto the food. The French fries are hoofs down some of the best I've ever had. Double fried and perfectly crispy, they really hit the hay. The tuna tartar is also quite a treat, though it could use a little more salt to really rein in the flavor. The chips and onion dip are classic, just like what you'd have at home for a Superbowl party. A real home-stable comfort!

The location is fantastic, right across the street from the Transamerica building. You can't miss it. Inside, the bar is cozy but on the smaller side, which adds to its charm. There’s just one bathroom, which can be a bit of a hurdle, but it's all part of the experience.

A good bar for a quick drink if you’re just passing through. After dinner, I was looking for a casual spot to grab a drink and came across this place. The drinks were pretty standard, nothing memorable, but the atmosphere was pleasant, perfect for people winding down after work. The crowd is steady from around 4 to 8 pm, and even though I went a bit later, I still had a decent time.

The service was limited and not very attentive. When I asked for a recommendation, the response was helpful, but I felt the staff could be friendlier, and the music could use an upgrade to liven up the place. Great bar- solid cocktails and a healthy selection of draft. Don't discount the food either, the pizzas are fantastic especially the pulled pork one which has a great kick. I also really love their fries, the texture makes me think they use a baking soda bath to get a fantastic crunch.
