Jake's Steaks — Restaurant in San Francisco

I can see how this might be a nice option to have if you live in the area, but my experience as a tourist was definitely average.

I got the recommended mushroom cheesesteak. The meat was not as good of quality as I expected. If you’re a cheesesteak shop, it would seem like the quality of the steak would be your mainstay, since, that’s basically all you’re serving, but, apparently not.

The mushrooms were tough and not that flavorful, and the sandwich was rather small after I unwrapped the copious amount of wrapping. For 24$ with tax and tip I was expecting better.

The menu is large and rather confusing. I just want to pick a sandwich. I don’t want to have to customize every bit of the experience. I am paying for someone else to make me food. Who wants to stand at a kiosk choosing 5000 options off a dirty touch screen when they’re hungry? Hate it.

Another example of why this is stupid: I was asked by the kiosk if I want salt and pepper on my sandwich. I selected No Option. Sandwich came with way too much salt and pepper on it. So what do those options do?? Add EVEN MORE salt and pepper? It’s just dumb. What do these selections even mean?? One asks, “toast, or double toast?” What?? It’s impossible to tell any way except trial and error. So how many bad sandwiches do I have to force down before I figure out which I like? The kiosk forces you to make like at least 7 choices. Come on. How can I say I ate a Jake’s cheesesteak if literally every part of the sandwich is something that I chose? What is a Jake’s cheesesteak if the entire experience is customizable??

The service was very slow despite not seeing many delivery drivers coming, either. They have a cool bar. The draft beer looked excellent. Saw some locals come in and put down some sandwiches with relish.

I’m not sure if my review went on I’ve been a customer at Jake’s stakes in the marina ever since they opened up shop there unfortunately I have to leave this review. The employees were very rude humiliating and prejudice. I walked in. There was absolutely no one in the cheesesteak shop, I was the only one there. I sat there for 10 or 15 minutes waiting to place an order for a cheesesteak. There were two men behind the counter and they were both talking Latin and ignoring that I was there I asked can someone please take my order they told me to order from the kiosk that they were busy. And was not able to take my order, but let me point out one was cooking in the other one was just standing there conversation with him. I told them that I did not have my glasses to order from the kiosk. They laughed and the guy that was just standing there told me to come back when I can see more clearly or have glasses. They continue their conversation in Latin and start I left from Jake’s steaks very humiliated laughing. I left from Jake steaks very humiliated. Upset and did not order anything. They are not attentive to customers. I asked if the owner was here because I had met him several times and he was super nice. This place is nothing more than a cheap sports bar. The food was a much lower quality than what I expected. After sitting with my family for nearly 10 minutes I finally approached the bar to ask how to order. I was rudely told "uh take a menu" then after several ordering/communication issues I paid and tried to ask for a receipt which the lady couldn't provide. I got the wrong food and she told me that's exactly what I ordered. Showed up at 3 in the afternoon and the bar was already filled with regulars. The only extra star I have this place was for the extremely fast food. It took maybe 4 minutes for the food to get to our table. The food sucked. Jut a tiny chewy cheesesteak that cost more and looked exactly like the different one my wife ordered.

I would suggest you move along from this place. Not worth any of your time unless you live in the area and need something...
