Marina Sushi Bar — Restaurant in San Francisco

In a single word: Meh. Gave this restaurant a try since Zushi Puzzle is now closed on Sundays; and deeply regretted it. Everything that you want to avoid in a one bad decision. Low quality product served at a very expensive price. Bad service even though I was just picking up a takeout order (quoted 15-20 mins for pickup ended up being 45+…with a rather catty / spiteful waitress to go with it).

Been driving by here for years and rarely see people inside. At least I’ve got an answer as to why. I wouldn’t have minded the price point if what was being served was close to the value. Their aforementioned competitor 1 block away prepares some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and is the exact same price with more sizable portions. Unfortunately this is one of those establishments that charges Mercedes Benz prices for single use, disposable, Chinese manufactured trash. You can judge for yourself, do the pictures of my order look like $107 worth of food? One and done...

I have to admit, most of these stars are for my friends who work there. I can't review the sushi, I don't eat raw fish and I'm allergic to shellfish. My boyfriend did love their sashimi.

Service: Very quick, but it's because I come in alone or with one other and sit at the bar during an off hour, not during peak.

Food: I've had their bento box and I eat a good amount, almost all, I'm petite so it's hard for me to eat too much and their bento box is pretty filling. I also have had their beef udon, it comes in quite a big bowl and was very taste. My friends recommend the udon over ramen if you ever go in for soup.

Atmosphere: I always found it hard to believe they can fit up to 60 people in the place, because, well it's the Marina, almost all the spaces are so small. Everything is clean and...

Ordered for pickup as we were staying across the street from it at the Chelsea Inn. Ordered the 3 item combo- which consisted of two 4 pieces of spicy tuna, tempura mix, rice, salad and miso soup as you can choose from many. We also ordered a wonton soup, and a seafood soup. Everything was great, good price and really good. Very friendly as soon as we walked in the door. Super quick pick up on a Thursday. Will definitely be returning whenever back in San Francisco.
