Edit as a response: the restaurant is trying to bully me into deleting my review. I am not writing this review for the restaurant but for tourists like me who enter this restaurant expecting Italian food and not knowing that it is only a mediocre pasta place. Sharing an accurate information is important as all other reviews fail to give factual information on the content of the menu. My kids and husband ate their food as we were tired and hungry after a long hike and my kids were starving and that’s why they ate the food. They would have eaten stone if you had served them that as they had a light lunch followed by a long hike. My husband did not like his pasta and the fact he was hungry and ate a food he had paid for doesn’t make the food good. In their reply the RESTAURANT CLAIMS that I treated them badly. This is a false allegation and an attempt to undermine my review. I DID NOT EVEN SPEAK One SINGLE WORD of disrespect to anyone working in that restaurant. Obviously the owner has a WILD IMAGINATION and very eager to stretch the truth and go to even claim that I treated them badly when no such a thing occurred. My husband ordered. We were disappointed by the food but ate them and left without saying anything and even left tip for the staff. There was not even a single word of disrespect spoken. This is a false claim in an attempt to undermine my review. Again I am leavingthis review to WARN THE FUTURE VISITORS THAT THE MENU IS VERY LIMITED AND THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD IS ONLY MEDIOCRE. The restaurant should see each review as an opportunity to learn what costumers expect and ACCEPT that in 2021 a lot of people don’t eat pasta. Their menu is defective and I wanted give this information to other visitors. I do not have any interest to hear anything from this owner who is attacking me for sharing my experience as a review.
Original review: This is a very mediocre pasta place. If you don’t eat pasta you go hungry. It is NOT an Italian restaurant. If you expect an Italian food beside Pasta don’t...
Read moreBeen coming here for awhile, but after tonight's visit, probably won't be back anytime soon, if ever. It's a shame. This had been a staple for us for several years but this evening our waitress' (if you can call her that; Eva's the name, I believe) service was simply abysmal. Left a tip but not a good one, and still debating whether I should've left one at all. She carried herself with a dismissive, can't-give-two- sh!ts-about-you attitude from the moment we stepped in the door (we even had a reservation). Amongst several examples of poor service.. wife really wanted the risotto but we were informed they had run out of certain ingredients and had switched over to shrimp in the risotto, to which wife is allergic. Instead of offering other suggestions, or at the very least, expressing the most miniscule level of concern, waitress made a faces trying to cover up her eye rolling as wife mentions her allergy. Then, instead of simply giving us the courtesy of asking whether we'd like, or need, more time to decide, waitress' blurts out "Alright, I'll give you more time" and proceeds to turn and quickly walk away before we could even react. Other examples of her pathetic behavior abound, but are too numerous to describe here - there just isn't enough space. Overall, particularly bad experience, lacking the most basic of table service etiquette. Maybe just a one-off, but I hope for the sake of the restaurant they realize what a liability this member of their staff represents and terminate her before she ruins other customers' dining experiences, but to mention the establish's otherwise...
Read moreI visited this wonderful Italian restaurant to celebrate my son's birthday along with my family. We were kindly greeted by the restaurant's host and quickly took us to the best seating spot for us. We were amazed at the interior decor. It's absolutely a work of art blending a fusion colonial interior architecture, historic photos, and splendid paintings. We were quickly greeted by the waiter. Super kind, attentive and assisted in helping us select the meals with ease. As appetizer, we ordered the Bruschetta platter and absolutely loved it. Beautiful presentation. Main courses were Fettuccine Alla Boscaiola, Linguine Allo Scoglio, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara and cream of Taro. Presentation and plating of each pasta was exceptional. Portions were generous. Ingredients are all made and prepared in house by the masterful hands of their chefs. Flavor and taste was OUTSTANDING! We absolutely LOVED IT! This restaurant has raised the bar and is now our top favorite Italian restaurant in Puerto Rico. At the end, we ordered 3 tiramisu desserts made in house and were absolutely wonderful. The tiramisu for my son was for free by the house ❤️🎂. Price for the entire course of meals is below the competition while providing a delicious, delightful and exemplary Italian culinary experience. We will definitely return in the future and on my behalf, I highly recommend anyone visiting the Old San Juan area and looking for an excellent Italian restaurant to place Bacaro on top of their list. It's that good!!! Thank you for a great and memorable...
