Our only experience so far may or may not have been a fluke, but we don't know. First of all, the pizza is really delicious! We love the Detroit style pizza with the deep-dish rectangular pans with the sauce on top instead of the bottom. The toppings go all the way to the edge and the crust is crispy. We tried the Cadillac, the Funkadelic Chicken, the Temptation, cheese bread, and cinnamon bread.
The Atmosphere was chaotic and loud for our preference. The story says the music playlist is also Detroit inspired Motown, but it went from The Carpenters to Metallica in just a few songs, and when the hard rock songs were playing, we struggled to hold a conversation at our table.
A couple weeks prior we attempted to try the Lehi restaurant, but turned around at the 2 hour wait. We were hopeful when our party of 10 had to wait only 15 minutes for a table on a Monday night at the Sandy location. We had split the check 3 ways and my order was third. After 80 minutes of being seated, the first pizza showed at the table. The pizzas for the first 2 orders (4 pizzas) slowly showed up at our table over the next 30 minutes. Finally the server explained to me that the third order didn't get put in the oven and it would be another 25 minutes for the last 2 pizzas. We asked for them boxed to-go. While we waited they brought an order of cheese bread and 2 orders of cinnamon bread. While the server was nice, communication was still unclear about how many pizzas on our order didn't make it to the oven, if we wanted to wait for the last pizzas, and in the end one of the pizzas was not the kind we ordered. The Server said something about they weren't expecting a Friday crowd on a Monday night and the kitchen running low on cheese. The 3rd check was comped, so not much to complain about there, but we probably won't be up for that kind of patience any time soon without a...
Read moreOK so Detroit pizza is good. I’m not gonna say better than Chicago because yeah, no, it’s where I’m from, however, it is delicious and the customer service is fantastic! I like the fun rock music playing and ask for Aaron because he’s about the best bartender server ever! Got the blackberry bourbon Collins and half 5002 Cadillac. Delish! Okay Postscript… popped in mid afternoon today starving to death and ordered half ambassador bridge and half Brazil. Something delicious! Also got a really yummy bourbon, hot toddy that had ginger and lemon and fig and cardamom bitters in it. That was really good! As I was eating this pizza, it occurred to me. I had not doused it with pepper flakes and Parmesan as I usually do because it didn’t need anything. It was so damn good! also have to mention Anthony is also an amazing bartender/server! He remembers what I like and is very friendly and personable, too! I highly recommend checking this place out because so far it is consistently fabulous! Celebrating Utah’s state holiday of pie and beer day with a delicious Boba Brazil pizza, and I’m cheating, because instead of beer, I’m having their Irish Mule, which is made with Jameson whiskey! Yum! Ooo try the pom-pom mule with the Lunazul Blanco tequila and it is delicious! If it’s still available, give the old smoky barbecue pizza a try cuz holy wow! OK yet another visit and I tried the New York sour which was so delicious and goes great with the Boba pizza and I’m trying the ambassador pizza this time! On my to do list the 500 pizza and the carnivore! And then I might try the funkadelic chicken even though that’s on the bar style Pizza list. If you’re very fortunate the bartender , Anthony will make a very special hot toddy with bullet bourbon, or a stellar Old Fashioned especially with smoked...
Read moreI wanted so bad to be writing a 5-star review, as that’s typically my experience trying new things, and the reviews I’ve heard of Via 313 prepared me for a great evening. I know life happens, and I’m going to assume that was the deal tonight, but our experience was much less than 5-stars, and what stars were given are entirely for our server Aaron.
We planned more than enough time for dinner and a 3 minute drive to a performance we booked months earlier. After placing orders, we waited 45 minutes before asking for an ETA. We were told food had been submitted, but was just now being placed in the oven.
Our waiter Aaron was so kind and apologetic, offering complimentary appetizers, which helped, but were not the meal we were needing. He was truly the one bright spots of the evening, and we are so grateful he was there to help in our situation.
After more anxious waiting, we were finally told our food was almost ready, received a small part of our order and paid (a discount was offered), but then waited another 10-15 minutes for the remaining food to be brought out in boxes. We had to run out the door, leave all our food in the cars uneaten, and were almost 20 minutes late for the show we had paid to see.
I feel that waiting well over an hour for food could have definitely been avoided, or we could have been notified upon arrival that the kitchen was short staffed, or whatever circumstance caused this. Or once we spoke up about the issue, we could have been given a straight answer so we could have spent the time we had running through a drive through prior to our event.
Again we are so grateful to Aaron, and did our best to laugh off the pain, but another visit to Via 313 is most likely not in the cards, as the time and cost is a little steep for cold,...
