Toasted mango cafe — Restaurant in Sarasota

We stopped in for a meal and while the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, the service felt a bit disjointed. We did not seem to have a dedicated server. Not sure if that's just how the restaurant works. One person took our order, another brought the food, and no one checked in to see if we needed anything else (which we did). On the upside, someone was going around refilling coffee, which we appreciated.

As for the food, the portion sizes were a little small, but the prices are actually relatively great. My husband had the Steak Au Poivre and felt it was subpar, while I had the Toasted Mango Special, which was just okay. Toasted Mango has been a favorite of mine for a long time but this morning was awful. One person seats you, one person greets you and gets your drinks, one person takes your order, one person delivers your order, and one person clears it. NO ONE was refilling coffee or water. My daughter didn’t like her Shrimp and Crab Benedict and changed her order but I had to flag someone down as NO ONE checked back after food was served. Upon leaving I asked to see the manager who thought this was funny and laughed at her when she’s tried to discuss the Eggs Benedict. I feel so lucky to have discovered Toasted Mango! Award Winning Toasted Mango Waffle - if you know, you know. And, where else can you get fresh mango butter to put on your fresh mango muffin? A local's favorite. Add it to your rotation, you will not be disappointed. Also, it's a great place for a breakfast/brunch meeting.
