This was my third visit, second time dining in. What I have gathered coming here, more than once, is that the service is lacking and though the food is pretty good and quick to come out, you will wait quite some time to have your order taken and will be lucky enough to see your server again before the end of your meal, if at all. Prepare to flag down folks as they rush past you whenever you're in need of something.
This recent experience I was already prepared for it to be busy seeing as it was a holiday. We were told it would be about a 30 minute wait but we received a text saying our table was ready after only 25 minutes, which was great! Unfortunately we had to wait at the hostess stand for several minutes while the hostess ran around doing other duties. There were at least 2 other parties who were standing around waiting for the hostess as well. Mind you the entrance is very tight and while waiting we all had to move over to allow customers and waitstaff through, with some of the waitstaff not saying so much as an excuse me. When the hostess finally came back we had to wait some more while she figured out what table we were supposed to be seated at. Finally we were seated and it took some time for our waitress to come by and take our order. They were unfortunately out of biscuits and later we were told they were also out of grits after she went to put our ticket in. Had to flag our waitress down to let her know what we wanted as an alternative as she soon disappeared after asking if we'd like to look at the menu for another option. I ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice and the quantity I received was kind of sad. The food came out pretty quick. But unfortunately it was wrong. I ordered the croissant sandwich with the eggs scrambled. I instead received it with the eggs fried. My partner had to flag down a runner to get my plate remade. Soon after we realized my partner ordered sausage but received bacon instead. So he had to flag down our server to have that fixed. By the time my food arrived again I seemed to have received a smaller portion of the sandwich than what was originally placed in front of me. So that was also disappointing. My partner asked for a refill of his tea, again after flagging our waitress down, but she went off to do other things before she got around to refilling his glass. Finally finished our meal and had to wait what seemed like 10-15 minutes for the check. Our waitress came over on her own for the first time since receiving our food to see how we were doing. I asked for the check and she went away. Came back without the check and started clearing our table and asked if it was one ticket. She left again and eventually returned so we could pay. Overall, I would not recommend dining in unless you have time on your hands and don't mind having an all but nonexistent...
Read moreWe had our daughter down from college and she had eaten there before with friends and suggested my wife and I join her for brunch Monday At little Duck Diner -located downtown Savannah - tucked in a little restaurant building near City Market in Savannah , Georgia We arrived around 11:30 and there was a 20-30 minute wait - the hostess got our phone number and we walked a short distance teach each o City Market and hit a few shops - within 30 minutes we got the message to head back , with only a 5 minute walk, and were seated as soon as we got back . The restaurant was busy and our waiter was very nice and took our orders as soon as we chose our food . The Menu has a wide assortment of foods on their menu- several types of Mimosas , drinks My wife wasn’t too hungry & ordered a waffle with fruit , my daughter ordered a California grilled cheese with chicken , & tomato bisque soup , and I ordered a crab & spinach omelette - we had an appetizer of (3) Korean beef egg rolls. It arrived quickly and here’s the breakdown on the meals : The single waffle with fruit - came with a single strawberry and a cup of whipped cream- it was satisfying but nothing to write home about - my wife has had better waffles , she mentioned. My daughter loved the California grilled cheese. It came with fry’s and was delicious. She had a tomato Bisque soup that was very tasty . My crab / spinach Omlette was okay, a lot of crab but the crab was very fishy tasting - & the Spinach wasn’t cooked tender , however it came with a beautiful delicious side of fruit (cantaloupe, watermelon, and blueberries) - The Korean beef egg rolls with a spicy dip sauce was very nice . Overall everything was good - there’s so many options on the menu - from sandwiches, steaks, classic breakfasts , and many desserts . The specialty milkshakes looked awesome . Our family tasted each other’s food and were each other’s best critics- Some of the food left a lot to be desired…….that’s why I give Little Duck Diner a “3” instead of a “5” for food quality.
We will be back & give them another try .
I definitely will try the milkshakes and desserts . Very clean and busy - with people waiting when we left.😊 Maybe it was just a rough day...
