Maple Street Biscuit Company is one of my me & my wife's favorite places. We originally discovered this Biscuit Company down in St Augustine. When my wife and I decided to take a trip to Savannah and we're so pleased to find they had one here as well ....so we put it on our list of " things to do "... . I will say that I was a little disappointed with this experience here in Savannah. The food is pretty standard across the board. They all have the same recipes and the same menu so that still met our expectation. HOWEVER, the food was cold by the time we got to eat it. The food came out pretty quickly which we were happy about especially since we waited almost 45 minutes just to order. That was definitely a huge con. The markings on the floor said social distancing six feet apart but that place was packed elbow-to-elbow there was no possible way to social distance even if you wanted to. After we actually ordered the food came out pretty quickly. I was impressed but also curious as to how they could make that so quickly. When we got to the table and started to eat the food we realized it was warm... it was not hot and fresh ..so it was practically like everything was already made and they just put on a plate and served it. The drinks didn't come out until about 10 minutes after we already got our food. We ordered the peppermint mocha latte (super tasty) our sandwich was the five-and-dime. (Tasty even though it was lukewarm) overall,I would be willing to come back here and give this place another try but maybe on a less busy morning when the cooks have little bit more time to pay more attention to the quality of the food rather than...
Read moreWhen we find a Maple Street Biscuit Company, we eat there. We ate at the one in St. Augustine the day it opened (not realizing it was opening day) several years ago. I like the goat cheese and pepper jelly on a biscuit, which I can order, but I just have to specify that this is exactly what I want. This time, the young woman working the register asked if I wanted to the goat cheese breaded. Breaded? I had not had that option before, but I thought what the hell and gave it a shot. Ohh, really good. Unfortunately, I did not get the pepper jelly. I got a sweet jelly, which was fine, but you really should get the pepper jelly. I really think Maple Street should jar the pepper jelly and sell it to take home. We had been told that there was a biscuit apprentice (words I never thought I would hear), so that was one of the reasons I think that the orders were taking a long time. But I did get an extra biscuit as a result. Son got a chicken biscuit that he couldn't even figure out how to approach because of its size and messiness. Kind of funny. Husband destroyed his biscuits and gravy. If you use a wheelchair, this is NOT an easy place to navigate. It gets very bottlenecked at the entrance, and then there's very little room for you to move if you use a chair. Don't attempt to go upstairs is you use a wheelchair. Stay on the main level. The bathrooms are in the basement and are also not wheelchair friendly - so if you can hold it or prevent using a bathroom, that's my suggestion. Not a slam against the business; these are old buildings. They've tried, but it's...
Read moreFrom what I observed throughout the weekend, there was a steady stream of customers. That's usually a good sign. So, I decided to check it out. There was a line when I visited but the cashier was able to keep the line moving. I must add that the cashier was very friendly and helpful. I observed this with all of the patrons who were ahead of me and experienced it when she took my order. I ordered The Sticky Maple Biscuit, Crispy Potatoes and Freshly Squeezed Orang Juice. The one thing I thought was weird was that they don't provide a tray of some sort to carry my food (or, at least, I wasn't offered one). So, in had to juggle my plate, my OJ and my bowl of crispy potatoes. Everything looked good. The OJ was very sweet and refreshing, but it wasn't cold. As a matter of fact, they had them sitting out at the counter. Perhaps they should put them in a bucket of ice after juicing. The crispy potatoes are dusted with Cajun seasoning and they were really good. The main entree was just okay. The combination of the items was okay, but I had a bite of the plain chicken and there wasn't any seasoning on it. The biscuit was okay. I know the name of the biscuit included "sticky" but in didn't realize that the biscuit would be sitting atop a pool of maple syrup. Proving hard to pick the biscuit up and eating it without having to clean your hands after every bite. A good idea is to provide some hand wipes. All in all, the customer service was awesome and the good was just acceptable. I'm still undecided on whether or not...
