Came from the Pilates spot in the same plaza and was hungry so I decided to stop there after reading there was lamb burger on the menu. Upon walking in I noticed a really cute atmosphere. However, the young woman that serviced me for a to-go order, her attitude sucked. It was very demeaning honestly. I saw something on the menu and proceeded to ask her about it because I didn’t understand it. When responding, it was so demeaning telling me “sausages usually look like a hot dog” and I was only asking what it’d look like so I can mentally be aware of what it’d be when I get it because there was a French word that I didn’t understand. Anyways, so I finally ordered and then I sat outside to wait on my food. She eventually brings me the food and has my hot food in a bag and my apple tart in a box. I asked her to also put my apple tart in a bag seeing as I had to walk back to my hotel and I also had a 1.5L bottle of water and a cappuccino I also ordered from there in hand. She catches an attitude and says “you need a bag for that single item?” and I’m like yes because I’m walking back to my hotel. When she comes back with a paper bag for my apple tart she told me that her manager is watching the cameras and that she’s not allowed to give extra bag due to the cost. I told her she could’ve charged me for the bag because as an aviator, I’m all over the world in places that charge me for bags. She said that it was ok she just didn’t want to get in trouble by her manager for giving out a bag for just an “apple tart” and that “the expense for bags are so high.” Honestly if I wasn’t hungry I would’ve just left but the customer service experience was so bad. I frequent Scottsdale quite a bit and would have no problem recommending this place to my other aviation friends seeing as the food was SOOOO GOOODD! However because of the condescending service I received from said individual I would definitely think twice before making any recommendations to my coworkers who frequent...
Read moreDollar for dollar, unequivocally the best French restaurant this side of the Pond. Just finished dinner with my family of 4. The escargot was ridiculously decadent and flavorful. That dish combined with the accordian background music and provencal decor was enough to alert us that we were not in Scottsdale anymore. If I had a whole baggett handy and their escargot, this review would be much shorter but no less positive. It was that good. Thankfully, I had no baggett and only a healthy appetite for their steak pomme frites. Each dish was so impactful i began to question my life choices. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and served with a rich peppercorn sauce that was a wonderful balance of white wine and cream. The accompanying fries must have been cooked in duck fat or something equally rarified because they were unreal. The surprising beef stroganoff entree was so amazing, it had my wife and I trying to work out the recipe on the way home. I can only imagine it was some sinful blend of shortrib, bacon, and cream. All of our desserts were fantastic from the light yet creamy brulee to the pear almond tart. The quality of their coffee was also a great surprise. Best flat white I recall ever enjoying. Lastly, the service was impeccable and both the owners coming out to check on us on different occasions was the cherry on top. I only wish I took more time to thank them for their craftsmanship. The care and love of France they have put into their restaurant is on full display down to last framed picture decorating their walls and inspiring dishes. They are rock stars and should be on Netflix extolling the virtues of French cuisine and sharing their life story.
My biggest regret eating here is that I waited too many years to stop in after seeing their review on Check Please. Another poor life decision that I will make up for by frequent return visits and advertising to...
Read moreFairly tasty, quick casual cafe. Should be four stars, but for the premium price point, taking a bit more critical perspective.
Came in search of a beignet (sad after Southern Rail closed), but missed. The beignets are definitely not the New Orleans style. These were nominally french bakery style, but honestly they were more like jelly-filled donut holes (honestly disappointing as a donut… kinda soggy and definitely not delicate or subtle).
Food in general came out very quickly. Maybe too quickly. We had a ham/cheese crepe, a Nutella crepe, a breakfast sandwich, and belgian waffle. Most of it was solid/tasty. Likes the simple salad and flavors were good. The breakfast sandwich on croissant was yummy. The bits of bone in the ham (in the crepe) weren’t awesome, and the cheese in the crepe had the was-melted-now-cooled texture 😕. The belgian waffle was a little sad looking, but was solid.
Service was mostly pleasant, friendly. one notable exception of one staff member who seemed a bit frenetic and felt it would be appropriate to interrupt us taking an order to bark at the cashier, “that’s the last hot chocolate”. Then, a couple minutes later, yelling (at least speaking loudly enough to be heard over the din across the dining room): “I can’t make you a mocha because we don’t have any chocolate!”. Maybe. I’m just old, but in my experience, there graceful ways to sort that out - out of eye/earshot of your customers.
Overall, it was good and a convenient stop if in the area and craving this type of food. If the price point was about 15-20% lower, it’d probably be a repeat - but for the price, there are better options for similar or higher...
