What happened to this place? I'm guessing they are going though changes right now. At first they didn't have slices, now they do but the pizza has gotten worse. It was pricey, $35 after taxes for a two topping pizza, really? The price deflated since so that's good. The last time we went, the square pie crust was overcooked/burnt and dark as black metal. You order at the bar and there are no "real" servers but you're suppose to leave a tip. hmmm. They also have this passive aggressive menu, "adding more toppings won't make it taste better". The busser/server/did everything/cook? guy was pretty nice but asked us to order it next time with the crust not so burnt or black, that's a good tip. When you order pizza, Ask them not to burn the crust and it will taste pretty good. Also ask them to cook the pizza, using the oven with the correct temperature. It's the customers fault if you don't teach them how you liked your pizza cooked. This is a great place for beers but if you want to get Pizza, not the best. If you have a hard time finding this place, its called Dino's pizza without a sign. Just look For Amanti's pizza and you'll see the Pizza sign...

From the bizarre mid-90’s website to its location in a Dive-Bar bathed in red Dino’s Tomato Pie almost seems like a joke, that is right up until one realizes that their claim of "The second-best pizzeria in Seattle" is a tongue in cheek way of putting it just below Delancey which just so happens to be owned by the same couple.

The brainchild of Brandon Pettit and Molly Wizenberg, their wood-fired Neapolitain Pizzas in Ballard among the best in America, Dino’s instead channels New Jersey in style from ordering at the counter to pebbled red glasses and attitude aplenty.

Sold by slices or whole Pies, round or Sicilian, it is after perusing perfunctory Greens and Knots that Food and Beverage come quick with a triangle of Pepperoni crisp yet foldable around two types of Mozzarella plus the sort of Red Sauce that attests to quality Ingredients.

$2 Tall Boys or $4 “Fancy Beer of the Day?” Why not, while The Kinks act as a soundtrack to Home Alone 2 on TV? All the better to enjoy alongside White Pie tinged in Garlic plus squares of “Mr. Pink” that emerges from a brick oven slightly under an inch, light and bubbly with spots of...

Everyone raves about this place and the pizza, but my experience was otherwise.

The good. The bar and drinks are ok, service wasn't so bad either. The atmosphere was nice which a huge mirror behind the bar and two TV's showing some good regular TV movies. Had the garlic knots twice and it was hard and burnt the first time, and not half bad the second.

The bad. The pizza isn't as great as everyone says. Had it twice now, and each time it's been a ok experience. The first time it was by the slice in house and the pizza was burnt. The second time I gave this place a chance I got a regular square pepperoni pizza as well as some drinks at the bar. Beware, they add automatic tip to your bill, at a whopping 20% as well. Nice, well, I was hoping the pizza would be worth it. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh..... It was average, at best. It was nice and super chewy. My jaw was tired throughout my second piece. It tasted just like regular bar pizza you would have anywhere else.

So I'm not sure why this place has all the hype. Not a bad place, but there's definitely better pizza...

HEADS UP: YOU NEED YOUR ID TO ENTER! No ID needed for takeout. Dino's tries to bring NJ to Seattle (see their website where they go into this, in fact I HIGHLY recommend it) I'm from NJ and these pies are good (depending on who's cooking) It's one of the closer restaurants to a real NJ pie. The immediate problem is the lack of consistency. Some days I'll take a bite and feel back at my hometown pizza place. Other times I'll be biting into a burnt, sauceless crust. When the pie is good, I notice something they could really try to take them to a higher level. True NJ/NY pies should have lots of grooves on the crust from the bubbles during baking (you'll see this if you peel off the cheese). I find Dino's slices to have this but the grooves are very small, which makes me hypothesize that their dough isn't bubbling as much during baking, and it's likely the part that they can improve on to really get down the pie from the city perfectly. The atmosphere is super fun, love the lighting and the NJ state flag hanging.
