1st I'd like to say this is not a post about the restaurant itself. This is about The character of the people who run this restaurant . I was in a cash-and-carry on Tuesday September 11th picking up a few items, What I noticed all the handicap spots were taken Which is strange because generally they are not. Being a handicapped person it is important to me to be able to enter and exit the store with as few steps as possible. As I walked by the cars parked in the handicap spot the 1st one had the appropriate placard to be park to their. When I approach the 2nd Vehicle a newer model Chevy Silverado black pick up truck There was neither the appropriate license plate for handicap parking or the appropriate placard posted. Then I saw a Hispanic gentleman and what Appeared to be his wife come out of the store and start to load up the truck. I approach and said scuse me that's handicap parking. She gave me a blank look like she had no idea what I was saying, he said yeah I have a tag. I proceed to look around the vehicle and did not see a tag Posted and he looked at me and said what do you wanna see it? I said yeah actually I would like to see it. This is a spot for handicapped people and it looks to me like you're just trying to park as close to the door as you can to load your products. He rolled his eyes and said sure thing they both hopped in their vehicle he started it up and proceed to pull out. Never flashing or showing me the handicap identification. I'm not the parking police but I am a handicapped man Who finds it extremely difficult to walk from one end of a parking lot to the front of a store. Seems to me like these aren't the type of people I as part of the handicaps community would want to be giving my money to regardless of the taste of their food their character speaks volumes to how little they care for...
Read moreIf you know, you know. Memo's caters to college students, especially those up studying late at night. Three stars is for being an average spot, not disappointing and not amazing either. Being 24 hours, Memo's is one of the best locations for late night cravings and munchies. There are some other good places for late night snacks and meals, but they aren't entirely 24 hours so Memo's has them beat with flexibility.
Alright, it's not the healthiest food nor is it the most authentic, but they don't generally claim to be. Probably not the cleanest either, but you gotta do what you gotta do when it's past midnight. It's important to keep this in mind though for personal purposes and personal expectations. I've heard this location in particular is better than others (Tacoma) so that's a good sign as well. You get solid quantities of food for the prices, so value is up there. Eat in moderation and you likely won't encounter any problems.
Carne Asada Fries is one of my favorites, good bang for your buck. Loaded with cheese, guac, and carne asada, you'll possibly have leftovers for another meal or the next day. Fries aren't really the best alone, but that's why they have friends in the toppings. Because I'm able to manage my expectations, I don't have disappointing experiences here.
I lean more above 3 (3.5ish) due to the fact that Memo's really understands its audience in college students and accommodates them by having 24 hour service and large portions. However, I can't quite justify rounding up because there are extremely strong competitors around the Ave for amazing food choices, just not...
Read moreThis review is for the U-District location.
I am giving a low rating because I have tried to reach out but I get ignored, and most cashier's move onto the next customer. 😔
My issues are- Inconsistent pricing, knowledge of order, and quality. I know these are hard times, and there are a lot of desperate humans about outside. I hope that your management is paying you fairly.
I've been overcharged more than once in the last month for ordering the same item- same way every time.
Pricing- the vegan burrito I order with extra guacamole comes to $9 tops most days, other days I am charged $11-12.
Quality- Sometimes I get a toasty tortilla, sometimes it's gummy or overly chewy/stale.
Knowledge of order- The cooks need to be very careful about allergens/food sensitivity orders. I am lactose intolerant, and typically order a vegan burrito every time I visit. I have been told to order vegan, and not request a veggie without cheese, and have been corrected even though 'vegan' is not on the menu. I have multiple times gotten either sour cream, or cheese added and it has made me sick, even though I clarified I didn't want any dairy. I also find it tedious to open up a burrito every time I order, to check before eating. Most of the time I want Memos, it's because they're fast, and tasty.
Memos, you can do better. You're making it hard for me to enjoy my food, and recommend you to...
