Metropolitan Deli and Cafe — Restaurant in Seattle

I work nearby and went in to grab a quick lunch. A lady helped me checkout. I bought a TV dinner because I wasn't feeling a sandwich on my lunch break, and a snack and drink. The lady wasn't super attentive but I just had a quick transaction so I didn't think anything of it.

When I went back to work, I tried to heat the meal. However, it was super dehydrated, and then I found it had expired 7 months ago. When I tried to return it, she tried to blame me for it. She tried to say that I should've checked the expiration date before I bought it. I told her I'm not really into the habit of checking expiration dates when I'm shopping because it's illegal to sell expired food. That's her job, I've worked retail, I know.

She didn't know how to give a refund so she offered exchange for another item. I am writing the negative review because the staff doubled down and tried to make it my fault for her not doing her job. They severely lack customer service. Based on the other reviews in addition to this one, now I understand why my coworkers don't bother going there and we just go further down to the gas station that has...

I've passed this place a few times while running around town, but never cared to stop and check this place out for any reason what so ever. (Edit) Lets just say My first experience wasn't too great...

But I did give them another chance and ever since things have been good. Clean, organized, and surprisingly spacious. I'll have to check out more of what they have to offer as I pretty much only come for their food options.

So far what i can tell, it's your regular corner convenient store deli. Maybe ran by an Asian family. Mixed emotions about their staff because I have different experiences with each person lmao. Besides that, I see a decent selection of wine and etc in the other half of the store I have yet to step foot in.... more review...

Stay away unless you are ready to pay a mandatory tip. I ordered 2 sandwiches and since we are having it to go, I decided not to tip. The worker running the deli confronted us saying we must tip because it is part of the Seattle culture, even though we are grabbing the sandwich to go! She stated "This isn't a McDonald's." She is also extremely rude assuming I was Chinese and stating that I don't understand the way of life in Seattle. I am sadden by the rude attitude, terrible service, and the demand for tips from customers
