They serve drinks, but not people. TLDR; awful service, overpriced drinks, not enough chairs. Skip it and go to the Navy Strength holiday pop up instead.
We waited for 30 mins in the rain to get into the Rob Roy Xmas pop-up (Miracle on 2nd). When letting us in, the hostess mentioned there were 2 seats and 2 standing spots for our group of 4. We figured it'd be around a table so we agreed. Turned out to just be two crammed bar seats so we made the guys stand in the walkway and hoped more spots would open up that we could take. The whole time, the guys were getting knocked around by waitresses and patrons going to/fro from the bathroom. When spots near us opened up, we tried to take them but the hostess admonished us and said she'd already promised them to people in line... The next time spots opened up nearby, we asked first, thinking she was aware we were trying to get more seats, but again she turned us down. Had we had 4 chairs, we would've ordered a second drink but since half of us were always standing, we left after one overpriced round.
Another piece of terrible service: at one point in the seat shuffle, one of the bartenders swiped my friend's half finished drink from the bar. When she asked if he took it, he denied it. She was going to let it go but her husband went to ask a second time to get her a drink back. When she went to pick up the fresh drink, the bartender guilted her by saying "this is why we don't let people switch seats." Completely ridiculous that he messed up / took her drink, then made her feel bad for requesting a new one. I was planning to leave a very low tip given the terrible service but of course there's an automatic 20% service charge. So instead, decided to write this review. Hope this dissuades at least some of you from visiting this very overhyped pop-up.
Happy holidays to everyone but the staff at...
Read moreWe stopped into this place because we heard the Old Fashions were amazing - which wasn't a lie. However, the server, who happened to be the general manager was a complete dick. We didn't catch his name, but he was wearing thick, black framed glasses, and a plaid shirt... He was rude, and treated us like we shouldn't be there. We were there on a business trip, and one of our co-workers is 21, and the manager ignored him when he was trying to order, then gave him a dirty look when asking what he wanted. He had his wife and baby with him(it was about 4pm on Saturday, and we had been walking at the market all day). Anyway, we were sitting on the patio, and his wife was standing outside the patio fence while we pit stopped for this "famous old fashioned"... Anyway, his wife asked him if she could have a drink of the ICE WATER he had on the table, so he handed it over the fence for her to have a sip - at that time, the manager came running out and grabbed it from her saying, "I can't believe you think that's ok!", and walked back into the bar. It was water! Teh atmosphere was cool - but the service was stuck up and not friendly... so we definitely will not...
Read moreLow quality, syrupy sweet, premade, overpriced cocktails. Rubbery, premade, microwaved appetizers at a ridiculously high price for the bad taste. My holiday "Cosmopolitan" was so sugary sweet I wondered if barrender just dumped a little bit of cranberry juice and orange powder into simple syrup. It was that bad. 😝 Apparently, the cocktails are pre-made, so the cocktails could not be altered by the bartender. The holiday eggnog was also disgustingly sweet. Worse yet, the Dan Dan Mien appetizer was premade and microwaved. The over cooked tofu pieces were tough and rubber like, the peanut pieces were also tough and rubbery. (Tofu and peanuts do not fare well in a microwave, so why would any chef knowingly choose to serve it as a signature appetizer except that it has cheap ingredients to lower food cost ratios?) It lacked ginger flavor. It tasted like someone dumped a bottle of soy sauce over ramen noodles. Because the ramen noodles were microwaved, they were tough and kind of hard on the outside and rubbery on the inside. Not worth $16 bucks for the cup and a half that was served. The wait staff...
