I had a similar experience living here like some of the recent reviews for this apartment building.
I lived here for 3 years and had 3 property managers during my stay here. I had a couple of bad experiences or impressions with the current property management company that owns the building.
The first were the widespread messages sent to the building about making sure we don't "let in" non-tenants or be subject some sort of penalty. It felt like they put the responsibility on the tenants here to vet through who "looked like a tenant" when entering/leaving the building. I feel like as a tenant its not my job to determine who "looks" like they live here or not and lowkey lends itself to a whole can of worms on discrimination. I have some questions about the security company they contract with as sometimes the security person would be present at night or not there at all, sometimes leading to someone sleeping/staying in the lobby.
The second is that there were issues in contacting the management team. I consistently got notifications about changes to when management would be in the office and the person who was supposed to do my move-out inspection wasn't even there (someone else did it instead). I've tried reaching out via phone and email too but someone was always "out of the office".
The third thing is that they asked me to renew my lease 7 months before my lease ended and gave me a month to decide. The language about renewing seemed oddly punitive and way too early before the lease would even end, so it rubbed me the wrong way.
The last thing was the deposit. I was also charged for an apartment clean up and repainting the walls. My move-out inspection didnt state there were any damages to the apartment and I cleaned it substantially before moving out. My initial thought is that re-painting and deep cleaning are routine costs associated with turning over the unit for a new tenant. Nothing was marked as "damaged" in my move out inspection so this caught me by surprise. This may be noted in the lease but if not, please take note of this.
The unit itself was fine. The apartments on Bell St. and 2nd St. can get a bit loud because of all the activity, so be mindful of your comfort about sound levels. I'd guess that on levels 5+ it might be a bit quieter as you're a lot higher up from the...
Read moreI have not posted a review of an apartment building before, but after one visit to the leasing office, I decided today would be my first!
I am new to Seattle and had been having trouble with my apartment search. On a whim, I decided to make an appointment to see 206 Bell. The units seemed nice, and while I am not sure if it will become my next home, sometimes visits can help a person discover what they are looking for.
The leasing staff, however, set this place above and beyond. I did not get the name of the person who helped me, only that she was from Hawaii, but the level of kindness and attention she showed during my visit was absolutely outstanding. She not only knew a ton about the area, pointing me toward many nearby restaurants and shopping locations, but she took the time to really listen to what I am looking for in an apartment. I had started to become demoralized in my housing search but she was the bright ray of sunshine that made me think "Yeah.. maybe Seattle can be my place for a while". 206 Bell is lucky to have such an amazing person on staff and I would encourage anyone looking for an apartment to stop on by. Sometimes that little ray of sunshine makes all...
Read moreI was a tenant there 10/2020 - 10/2022. TL;DR: Stay away if you can. Stay away. First year it was a good place that I liked, but then in early 2022 the management started changing not unlike the weather in Seattle, so it started impossible to reach out anybody neither by phones nor by emails, neither they were returning my calls; so I had to walk (!!!) to their office on 5th to find at least anybody and literally ask a completely unrelated Greystar employee to give me at least some reachable live person. Because of all their incompetence and slowness potential tenants just walked away seeing how inexplicably hard the communication with them was during simplest requests. The management both of the property and the Greystar lack any respect towards the tenants and any basic understanding of how the work can be done and only reach you out if they want your money, and tend to tell you things lacking any common sense. When the time came to return my deposit, they returned me peanuts without any explanation 10 days past due according to the WA law. Ridiculous level of service which is combined with the notoriously high crime of Belltown. I really hope this review will save nerves to at...
