I wouldnât go back even if they offered me free food or drink.
The drink we had was wonderful, the staff.... rude, cold, stuffy, and unfriendly. I felt completely uncomfortable.
My boyfriend and I came across this place while walking around Seattle. The building looked interesting and we like to explore. Upon entering, the host wasnât at the host stand, which is fine, we just wanted a drink at the bar. We asked if we could sit, but we had to wait for her? Only to be told to sit wherever we like.
When we said we didnât want any food, the bartender and hostess didnât make me feel welcome. I have a very restrictive diet and I looked at their menu and I couldnât have anything.
My boyfriend and I will often go to local bars and enjoy a drink together and we will stay and have more drinks or food if we desire. I also am not a big alcohol person, so I like to have him order a drink and if I like it I will get one myself, or we will try another.
After ordering the drink, our menus were taken away and our bill was placed in front of us. I felt rushed and treated as if I didnât belong, or couldnât afford more. Now mind you the drinks with their added gratuity came to $18. I would hope to have better service when Iâm laying almost $20 for a drink.
I tried asking the bartender about the building and he just informed me that the other floors werenât open to the public. He never checked into see how we were doing, or if we wanted anything else. Basically he just brushed us off and he arrogant attitude of the establishment was a complete turn off.
My boyfriend, knowing something was off, asked if I was okay, and I said we would talk after we left. I am a very observant person and I watch people, and so I also watch the staff.
When another waitress came around to set napkins out in front of us, the bartender made a cut off signal next to his neck. Which just was weird, is it a secret that we donât want food? How about instead , âoh they donât need napkins they are just enjoying cocktails, thank youâ.
Worst experience I have had in a restaurant or bar in a long time. I would give no...
Read moreWhen you have such an amazing opportunity to secure a venue as unique as the spheres itâs a shame to squander that with poorly executed food. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately the portions are exceedingly small even by haute cuisine standards. The menu is so limited as it provides only choices between appetizers, 36oz steak (not a misprint) or pizza (really like we need more pizza places). Started with the suppli mozzarella and tomato which I thought was an amuse bouche when it arrived, was most reminiscent of a hot pocket only less satisfying, obviously not much thought went into this dish which consists of two very small fried tomatoes with cheese. We also ordered mortadella pizza. I have been to Rome several times and have had mortadella pizza before and it was delicious, here at Willmonts not so much. Far far and away too much oil was used and as a result the crust wasnât so much baked as it was burned. The whole thing was just poorly done. For ambiance I am willing to overlook what could just be chefâs bad day but here the lights are too bright and the staff cold, itâs like eating in a hospital setting. Frankly the whole thing just doesnât work, small plate Italian in a bright space with a cold and unfeeling atmosphere. Finally ordered ice cream and after waiting about a half hour for it we were informed it wasnât setting up properly and they were out so we ordered the olive oil cake which was unremarkable. All in all I am really disappointed as I work just next door and was hoping this space would be used for something unique, as it is I wouldnât expect this place to last long. Word is out that itâs not great. If you are thinking Italian in an interesting space there are many alternatives in Seattle that will leave you much...
Read moreI was really excited to celebrate my ten year work anniversary in person with my boss. I donât get to Seattle often and love Italian food.
Unfortunately the server we had acted like we were putting him out (the disdain and the mullet were not ironic). It was a whole vibe. As a queer person myself I was mortified to be treated like I was a second class citizen by a member of my own community.
Oh, and the service was so SLOW. When we were ordering, he kept making sure we understood bread wasnât included with the burrata so we made sure to order the focaccia (which was to die for!) but it didnât come out with the burrata. We had to wait while the rest of our plates came out and then eventually the focaccia came out. Like, dude, if youâre going to keep bugging us about the âvesselâ not being included, at least get the âvesselâ out at the same time as the food itâs supposed to support. He either put the order in wrong or the kitchen messed up. Hard to say.
If anyone from this restaurant is reading this, go get your whole staff a copy of âunreasonable hospitalityâ and learn something about how to treat your guests. I felt like I was putting this guy out by being there. Thatâs not how this is supposed to work.
As for the food, it was amazing. But there was a dark shadow of queer disdain and malaise overshadowing it. I...
