I waited a few days to decide if I even wanted to do this review but I think I deserve to be recognized for how I was treated. So here it is :
My husband and I chose this Olive Garden for my 30th birthday dinner 3 days ago; as it turns out that was a mistake. 30 is a milestone and we only chose this place because it was close to an event we had planned afterwards. When we first arrived we were met by 2 completely unenthusiastic and miserable people at the host stand. Not 1 smile, no greeting, nothing, that's when I should have taken my hint and left. I was told a 25 minute wait for a table; so we chose to wait at the bar and order a drink.
Jhonny was the ONLY positive employee I came into contact with that night so im very happy we made that choice. He made our drinks, offered a warm smile, and even wished me a happy birthday when he checked my ID. I would also like to mention my husband says he makes the best old fashioned he's ever had.
After about 15 mins were seated, we are immediately "greeted" if you even want to call it that by our server Billy. I don't want to personally bash anyone but his personality was beyond abrasive. He made me feel very uncomfortable and like I was simply a dollar sign. My husband and I were clearly dressed up and celebrating, but he didn't even offer to speak to us to find out we were supposed to be celebrating.
At one point he jerked an empty plate out of my husbands hands from behind him which I considered very rude. We also felt very rushed to order, and he was obviously annoyed when I hadn't used the 30 seconds he gave me to decide. I understand the restaurant is busy, but as a server myself I also understand intimate celebrations usually take a bit longer at the table and when service is good the tips are always phenomenal. We had paid with gift cards and planned to leave a large holiday season tip cash because that is one of the things that brings me joy as a fellow restaurant employee.
The food was good and hot so I have no complaints there. The cherry on top for me though was when he was blatantly rude to the couple with 3 small children next to us. To the point that the mother and I spoke about how awful he was treating us. I NEVER leave bad tips at restaurants because I work for tips myself. This was extremely painful for me to do but I couldn't reward any of that; we left just enough to cover his tip out on our table. Thankfully I have a wonderful partner who brings a pocket full of joy along with him everywhere we go; we were able to laugh and make the best of the evening, but it should be addressed...
Read moreWe went to Olive garden for dinner since we are on vacation. Our dinner was delicious as usual with Olive garden. I would not say that the waitress was unfriendly but she also was not friendly. This has nothing to do with Olive garden but this lady in a table across from us kept on giving weird looks. At one point during our meal, I'm assuming it's a waiter or one of the cooks from the back. A short Hispanic man I would say maybe in his early to mid-50s came out into a corner of the dining room we were sitting in and was on the phone. Sat down at a table and was yelling aggressively in what I can assume was Spanish at someone. Did it scare me? No it did not scare me but it did make my butt pucker a little as I was trying to eat my chicken tortellini alfredo. After his call, he promptly resumed his duties. I'm guessing somewhere back in the kitchen area. I remember thinking. Well that's odd. I've never seen an employee come out to yell at someone in Spanish on their phone, so just so I felt protected. I had two to three more breadsticks. When we got our bill someone else's food was also on our receipt. I thought hey that's weird, I would not say that it was promptly handled but it was handled. My problem was after eating Olive garden. I had to rush to the toilet in my hotel room was 7.9 mi away. And I know what you're asking yourself now. And the answer is yes. I did make it back to my hotel toilet but I did almost lose it in the parking lot once I got out of my vehicle. Overall I rate this Olive garden experience three stars. Food was delicious. The dining room was very clean, it was just the employees I were working there that made it odd. I am glad to see that there is a diverse employee base at this restaurant. Might I suggest training employees not to yell in Spanish at what I'm assuming was his wife in the dining room. Also, while I was there in the dining room, I noticed a young woman probably 15 took a ridiculous amount of Andy's mints. What was that about?? And why was they so readily available on a table near us?? I look forward to your answers to all of these things. Olive garden... ...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience that put a damper on my daughters birthday dinner as we vacationed in the city from out of town. Our first impression was our waiter who to our table profusely sweating and musty. We looked past that even though we felt that was not a sanitary look working around food. My wife’s pasta came back Al dente at best and had noodles not fully cooked. We sent it back to have it remade. I got choked on a piece of plastic that was in my meat sauce. With my index finger I was able to sweep it free to keep it from potentially going into my windpipe. (Thank God that could have been bad) When the manager responded to my table when the server reported the incident she said, “I’m sorry that happened to you. Our meat sauce is packaged in plastic and sometimes the way the packages are cut, it can get plastic in sauce sometimes.” What???!!! My server got my sons create your own pasta order incorrect. When he checked his order pad he admitted he entered the order wrongly in the computer so my son’s order had to be re-made. I asked for extra meat sauce as half of my spaghetti was noodles only without sauce. The server forgot to get it until my food got cold. He admitted that he forgot and apologized. My wife’s food correction took forever to come back so she had to get it to go and did not get to eat at the restaurant. My daughter got the donuts (for her birthday). The server brought her Carmel sauce and ketchup with her donuts instead of the raspberry dipping sauce. The server once again admitted he made a mistake and stated, “this was my first time making the donuts and even pulling sauce for a customer.” “I apologize (as he smirked) I didn’t know how the raspberry sauce looked in contrast to the ketchup, I guess we live and learn.” A lot of poor service, food, and incompetence here. I won’t even go into the litany of issues others had at other tables near mine. Beware of...
