We made reservations a week in advance to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. At the chop house at Tanger outlets in pigeon forge. We got ready and were excited to see what everyone was saying. That it’s great food for a decent price. We left the hotel in high hopes. We got there early and waited in the car. After 10 mins it was time to go in. We get out of the car and see its crowed. But wait we have reservations so we didn’t panic. We go to the hostess stand and say we have reservations for “Wright” at 6:30. She said okay and looked us up. My fiancé asked how long the wait was “she said I don’t know” we asked were do we sit so we can wait since it was so crowded. She said in a very rude. I don’t know just go somewhere “using her hands in a shh away hand motion”. After that I was fired up. How unprofessional can one place be to do that to customers. I mind you I’m a manager of a kitchen I know how to run things. We go outside in the heat and sit down and waited on the text to be seated. After 10 mins we got the text. We go back in a different hostess is seating us. Just asked us do we want booth or table. We said booth. She leads the way to a corner table big enough for 5 “which was still dirty” we turned around and said we will sit at the table. Nothing on a happy anniversary nothing personal as we expected since I had to put it in for the reservation. Then we sit down wait and wait and o yeah wait. After 10 mins I asked another server who our server was he said Hayden. So I try to flag the manager down he ignored me when he clearly saw me. Another 5 or 10 mins go by and he finally shows up. That was strike 2. Once again how unprofessional can you be. All we are doing is trying to do is celebrate our anniversary but realize this may be a mistake. He comes to the table with the excuse we were by the fireplace but let’s be honest that whole side of the restaurant is blocked by the fireplace. And he had other tables. We told him we are ready to order already since we have waited. We order everything at once. Here is the good part the review of the food and drinks. We waited and waited once again on drinks. My fiancé ordered a mix drink. I ordered a corona. After 10 mins she got hers. It wasn’t mixed. Everything was on the bottom of the glass….my corona arrived 5 mins later and was flash cooled. Inside was still warm but the outside of the bottle was cold. I’m guessing that’s why I waited 15 mins on 1 corona. 10 mins later we get the eggs. Yes the presentation looks great. Yes our waiter is trying to make up for our wait and was doing his due diligence. But those eggs are god awful. I can’t tell what seasoning it was. Tasted like a Cajun seasoning. Was beyond overpowering and it was horrible. 5 mins later we received our salads. Fiancé got a Cesar salad that was terrible the dressing was horrible. I got a house salad with ranch that was great. About 7 ish mins later we received our plates. I asked for another beer since it was going to be awhile. She asked for more dressing to finish the salad our waiter returned in great time to give her that. Despite it being horrible she tried her best to finish the salad real fast. Our steaks arrived and we got ny strips. That yes they were cooked to the right temps. However the grill was too hot and burned the living daylight out of them. We tried to eat it but it was struggle to deal with the burnt taste. This was strike 3. The Mac and cheese was hot but tasted good. Chef mic probably helped with that. We asked for the check and waited and waited finally got it. But wait here’s the kicker we didn’t get a pen. After waited on him again we got a pen and finished up. This was a nightmare experience when all we wanted was a nice romantic dinner for our anniversary. Yes we probably should have said more but honestly we were in shock from the unprofessionalism from the top down. Once again I’m the manager of a kitchen I’m very patient but this was over the top. I understand being busy but your never busy enough to acknowledge and greet your customers the...
Read moreI started off by making a reservation for 7:30p.It was my boyfriend’s 60th birthday and I wanted to take him out for a nice dinner while in town. I highly suggest making a reservation, it’s not mandatory but highly advised. Upon arriving, and checking in our reservation wasn’t ready. My bf and I decided to have a drink at the bar while we wait. It took about 20 minutes after our reservation time to finally be seated. Once seated our waiter came over and we started with a fresh drink. My boyfriend ordered one of their signature cocktails. The Chop House has two fireplaces, which are open on both sides. There’s one on the main level, and another on the upper level. The walls are open so you can see both fireplaces from where I was seated. The room itself is very warm and cozy with the fireplace going it added a nice ambience. The walls are a dark wood, and the lighting is on the dim side which makes it quaint. There’s plenty of free parking, and they have handicapped parking . This place is Wheelchair Accessible. The Chop House can accommodate Groups, such as Graduation Celebration, Birthday Parties, Corporate Functions, or Family Gathering, even Team Sports Events, ( call ahead.) The Chop House offers a nice “Gluten Free” Menu. They are also “Kid Friendly,” all children are given a fun placemat with games to play on it, and their own personal kids menu. I started off with their Deviled Eggs with Brown Sugar Bacon. The presentation was lovely. What I really liked was that you get 6 halves not just an odd number of three like most places. These deviled eggs were delicious. They had a creamy egg filling, with a piece of candied bacon on top. That bacon gave the eggs a nice smokey taste. For my Entree I chose their Ribeye Steak. My entree came with a House Salad and a Baked Potato, I also ordered an extra side of Mac N Cheese to share. This is a definite must. It had a crispy crumb topping and creamy, rich shell interior. I ordered my steak med-rare and I was emphatic that it not be over cooked. (Unfortunately, it was overcooked which was somewhat of a disappointment. This is a steak house and they should know how to cook a proper steak.) I ate some of it and kept quiet because it was my boyfriend’s birthday. The steak itself was seasoned nicely, it was just overcooked to medium which I dislike! The birthday boy ordered their Sirloin Steak and he got his topped with a Horseradish Crust for a few dollars more, a House Salad, and rice. He enjoyed his meal. ( they have a lot of extra sides to choose from.) My waiter knew it was my boyfriend’s birthday and to our surprise, he brought a FREE dessert. It was their Caramel Cookie Crunch-A caramel cookie, French vanilla bean ice cream chocolate, caramel, and white chocolate sauces on top. It was so good. He also presented a lovely birthday card which was a nice touch. I would’ve loved to give this place five stars, but I can’t because they...
Read moreGoing to be a long one… my wife, mother in law, 10 year old daughter, 3 year old son, 10 month old son and myself stopped to eat at this location on Saturday, 11/30/2024. Regarding our waitress- From the time we sat down, our server “Christine M” completely profiled us as if we were misplaced and didn't belong in the establishment. We were dressed casual and “normal” as we had taken the kids to the aquarium and went shopping at Tanger Outlet before stopping in for a meal. Apparently our appearance didn’t fit the restaurants level of prestigious patrons and she thought it would be a waste of time to treat us the same her other guests that were dressed as if they just left a business meeting. I made sure to analyze how she treated her other tables and how it differed from the service we received and the comments that were made. I left her a VERY generous tip and added some constructive criticism on the receipt so maybe the next party of 6 that she receives who aren't dressed to the gills wont get treated as if they are less important than her other guests. Wearing dress clothes to a restaurant isn't always a sure sign of being able to afford to eat there and have the ability to tip generously. Now on to the food…. My wife ordered the 10oz ribeye well done and it was PAPER thin and completely charred with zero flavor other than charcoal. Literally looked like a a slice of beef you would use for a philly cheesesteak, but burnt to a crisp(her loaded baked potato and salad were good, though). I ordered the 14oz ribeye cooked medium and it was the second worst steak i have ever put in my mouth(again, the potato was great). I didnt say anything to the waitress about it because she already had the mindset that we were too poor to step foot in the establishment and would have probably thought we were just trying to out of paying for it, so i kept my mouth shut. For $165.70 we could have went across the street to Longhorns or Outback and had GUARANTEED better service and most certainly a better meal. Left a $54.30 tip with a message written on the receipt. Hopefully someone will see this and possibly make some changes or provide better training to treat people equally, no matter how they appear. I promise that some people dressed comfortably who stop to sit down and eat after visiting places in gatlinburg and shopping can afford the same or even more than the ones in dressy clothes. I ALWAYS tip more than the norm if the service was worth it. I chose to leave a considerable tip for her with the constructive criticism so maybe her next guests like us will receive...
