Setting aside the decline in the quality of food over the last several years, the staff at this Moe’s locations is what really makes every experience so dreadful.
For anyone who eats out/gets take out with any frequency - as we do - you know the bar has been lowered a lot over the last decade, and especially lately, as restaurants struggle to find workers (while being taxed to fund the lifestyles of the very folks who refuse to work). For whatever reason, it’s become common for employees to decide to close early, breaking down grills early, not serve fresh food or their full menu within an hour of closing, treat customers like they aren’t wanted. Still, Moe’s South Burlington has truly scraped the bottom of the barrel.
Essentially everyone that works at this Moe’s is absolutely miserable to everyone that comes in. And I’m not just talking about the “welcome to moes” thing - I couldn’t really car less about that. It’s the tone and the face when you ask them a question about a topping, the fact that they’ll lie and say they’re “out” of something (the truth is they don’t want to go to the back or request more be made).
Last night, an hour before close, there were 5 people in the food prep area, 3 were chatting while cleaning/breaking down grills - leaving one angry employee to make our orders and another slightly more tolerable and intelligent one to deal with payment. I checked out the salsas while waiting for him to recognize we were ready to pay (we were the only customers there)… 3 of the 4 salsas were completely empty. 1, sure… 3? They’d probably been like that for some time and other customers just didn’t bother saying anything.
So the guy making our meals - we’ll call him sunshine, first rolled his eyes when 3 seconds after entering he asked what we’d like and we said we needed just a minute. Shift wasn’t over and and it’s not like his mom was going to hide your Xbox before he could get him. Then he tells my fiancé he’s “out” of steak… unfortunately an employee from the back didn’t get the memo and happened to drop some off right then. He was less embarrassed about being caught in his lie and more annoyed that he now has to take off the plastic to scoop the steak. Then he asked if we wanted sautéed vegetables… when we said what we wanted, he said “I’m out of peppers.”… “okay, so you just onions then?” I asked, hoping it might click that he should at least rephrase his question. It went on like that from there… relax dude, your Xbox is waiting for you in mom’s basement where you left it.
When it came time to pay, I asked the aforementioned, slightly more tolerable - but totally distracted (again, with no other customers in the building) - cashier about the salsas. He yelled into the back and a few minutes later the miserable guy who made our food during our previous visit slowly strolled out with scoops of each of the 3 empty salsas, one at a time in scoops, looking like you had just told him he was being deployed to some unjust and unwinnable war. Maybe the angry blue haired girl who was with him behind the counter last time edged him out for the gold in the terrible employee olympics?
Look, I recognize how difficult it is to find decent help for anything these days… but I can’t recall a more miserable bunch of people in one place. Honestly, it’s as if they’re trained to behave this way. They’re so bad that I now suspect any slightly weird taste in the food is the result of them “doing...
Read moreThe Moe's on Wilson has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. We got there at 11:04 and the doors were still locked (it opens at 11). When an employee finally came to unlock them, she didn't apologize for keeping us waiting (mind you there were 2 other customers there who had been waiting to pick up their To-Go orders which were supposed to have been ready well before 11am bc the store opens for Take-Out at 10:30), nor did she welcome us. She couldn't even be bothered to smile or hold the door open for us. To me, that's just plain common courtesy. She just unlocked the doors and walked away. Then the guy heating up the burritos and putting on the meat acted like we were bothering him; and he moved at the pace of a sloth. The same women who opened the doors put on our other toppings and she acted equally as annoyed as the other guy. So I'm sure it goes without saying, we weren't greeted with the normal spunky "Welcome to Moe's" fun loving crew. The only redeeming employee in that store was the cashier, Axle, who was actually friendly. I feel sorry for him bc he has to work with those other two slugs all day. I'll never go back to that Moe's again. Next time I'll go to the one...
Read moreCame in and was greeted nicely by the girl who made my food. The girl who rang me out however. Rude as hell. Her name is Lily. I asked for extra chips and the snapped at me ' Were not doing extra chip because I have to fill all thoes' nd gestured to 4 empty chip containers. Whole there were 6 full ones stacked behind her. I'm sorry but your night prep should not determine if I'm allowed to have extra chips. I have worked in food service and serive my entire life. She walked away while I was putting my card into the reader so I didn't get a receipt. Then I was filling up my drink cup. A group walked in and she starts yelling 'hey to you people walking in I am out of this this and this' just super rude and filled with additude. I work in retail and have worked in service industry my entire life. Her additude and distane for people asking for extra chips is unacceptable. Moe's provides chips and salsa and its unlimited and free as part of theor marketing is free chips and salsa. You can't say no because you have...
