This review is solely based off the buffet and I only came here for crab legs and shrimp. No wait when we showed up at around 5pm on a Friday, was seated immediately in the buffet section inside. Crab legs...you know why I'm here, first batch was cold, no problem, I'll deal with it. Got some of the fried shrimp, solid with crunchy breading. 2nd batch of crab legs, warmer, better eating, powered through. 3rd batch, btw each batch was at least 3-4 clusters (I don't play around with me seafood), was hot and fresh, unfortunately they were over cooked! The meat inside the legs was shriveled and mostly no meat left in the claws. Not much extra flavor on these, be sure to ask for some Old Bay Seasoning. Unfortunately 4th batch was no better, very over cooked. Now the shrimp... sorry but it was mushy, very mushy, so mushy i could only eat 1of the 3 shrimp skewers...so mushy that i only peeled 1 shrimp and it mushed up while chewing, not very appetizing to where that were I maybe ate 3 shrimp total. I hate to down the buffet for what it is but at $32 a person I would expect better. The view over the ocean sets this location apart, thats a big plus. There was also a sand castle structure exhibit right across from the entrance at this time which made for a quick pass. I ate here years ago around the same time of year and it was on a better level. Showed up with high expectations and this time the place didnt deliver.

I visited this place in either 1983 or 84. I finally returned 8-2-24. We had server number 1215. Service was excellent. The food was outrageously great. The portions were awesome. When my girlfriend came back from the buffet she had a huge smile on her face And I brought twinkle in her eye. She said oh my God they gave me two sets of crab legs not one but two. Everything we had without standing. The night before we went to a restaurant on the south end of the island I won't give out a name and give them any free advertisement they were in area of 33000 ish of SP RD 100. Did I mention our meal was almost $50 higher South of Queen Isabella Causeway ? I will also say your food was way better and less expensive. Everything we had was delicious. Very few places in my life that I have went back for second time and lived up to the expectations Louie's Backyard after 40 or so years you exceeded my expectations. Visitors of SPI if you're reading my review scratch all those low reviews most of those folks have very few reviews out there very few of those reviews are status as local guides status. Visit this place and see for yourself. One last thing managers, servers, prepares and cooks job well done!

Over-all, 5 stars for view and service, and 2 star for food. The view is amazing for sunset, but if you don't like to sit in the sun and wait for it, then this isn't your place. It's hot and there aren't any fans that I could see. Other than that I ate here with my family, and we had the buffet dinner. Ordered a Ziegen draft that was cool not cold, switched to canned Shiner and my wife had bottled Dos, they were ice cold. The prime rib was tender and had decent flavor. The rest of the food was really bland. I don't over season my food at home, so restaurants usually have more flavor than my food. The shrimp was over done and a little tough, and the fried scallops had no taste at all. The snow crab was kind of dry, which I've never had snow crab dry like this. The service was great and I have no complaints about their staff. I would give it another shot and try the regular menu. I will never recommend and never have the buffet again. I shouldn't have had a buffet dinner to begin with, haven't had one in a long time. Over-all, 5 stars for view and service, and 2 star for food. Also, our bill was 95 without tip. Not worth the price. Just go for drinks, canned and bottled, and the view.

Lured by the west facing outdoor patio, we came for dinner hoping to dine during the sunset. The setting sunlight was a bit too harsh for us, so we moved inside. Other customers seemed fine outside. Inside had the dinner buffet which won us over because of the variety of food they offered, especially the steamed crab which is my son’s favorite. Ultimately, the food was a bit disappointing. Everything was over cooked. Prime rib was basically well done and shredded when cutting it. The pork ribs were pretty dry and leaned heavily on the sauce. The crab meat was stuck to the shells, which is fine just usually shredded and harder to peel. The mac and cheese beshumel was a bit grainy. My favorite food items were the sausage and baked fish. Our waitress was very nice trying to accommodate our friend who is vegetarian. The servers behind the buffet seemed a bit more moody basically throwing food on our plates. Maybe it’s just an off day. We all have them. The buffet itself was crammed in a corner with the protein in the back most corner which felt like a trap when other people were crowded behind you waiting for service. $33/adult and $15/child for buffet.
