Sidecar Cafe Southaven — Restaurant in Southaven

Took our Mom here on a Tues night and it was not overly busy so our server had time to be very attentive and she was able to deliver prompt service.

Mom had the Cajun Pasta w/Shrimp and said it was delicious. And at her age now she doesn't eat as much as she once did so the fact that she finished 1/2 of the large portion proves to me it was good (plus, visually it looked like it was yummy to me!!).

My wife & I both chose the Burger and it was delicious with just enough heat (jalepenos & sauce) to make it taste great. Not sure if they always serve it this way but it was not a solid patty and, for lack of a better word, meat was crumbled which gave the option of picking it up to eat like a normal burger or could opt to eat it with a fork. It was different but did not take away from the fact it was a great burger.

Only negative I can say is related to the physical menu. They gave us paper menus that were crumpled enough that they looked old and clearly had been through a thousand hands...kind of felt gross since there is no way to clean a paper menu. And the menu had multiple items scratched out with black marker. None of the menu issues were deal breakers or took away from our enjoyment of the meal but it did seem like an odd quality issue when compared to the overall quality ofvthe atmosphere & the appearance of the place.

Bottom line...our meals & service were both great and we will be back to visit...

Absolutely horrendous service. Had a party of 13. They should have told us they couldn't handle large parties. Server didn't take one order at all until we called her attention to it, didn't submit 3 orders to the kitchen so they were never filled, and never checked back for drink refills. Was in the restaurant for over an hour, had to ask 3 different times about the missing orders, and watched other tables who had been seated after us get their food, eat and leave. Manager wasn't much help. He couldn't figure out the order sheet either, and he came back 3 times trying to figure out what menu items were needed. No condiments or salt and pepper on the table. Had to ask for that as well. When we did get the food, it was okay. Nothing amazing, but ok. Then, when getting the check, I specifically asked if the tip was included in the bill. I was told no. Get to the cashier and find out it WAS included, and yet the manager was going to "help" me put on the tip. So not only was the service very poor, they tried to fraudulently double charge the tip. It was our first time visiting Sidecar and we have the pleasure of having Melissa (or Chicago as the bikers call her) as our server. Although she was incredibly busy , she kept her composure and energy up! She worked the patio full of bikers and people with ease, grace- she was an absolute BOSS. We had the absolute best time, all of it thanks to Melissa. Happiness radiates off of her, you can't help but smile and she is by far the hardest working person we saw at the restaurant. She made our night out and dining experience memorable, and we will absolutely be back to see her! In fact, my husband and I joked that we needed to figure out her schedule so we can only go when she is working, haha! Sidecar, you now have a couple of regulars- IF...
