'Ya know, Honey...,' our lovely server told me, '...we don't have the derelicts, low lifes, and homeless people eating here, anymore.' Well, she got one right, because I'm not homeless. This beloved place and our family go waaaay back (early 1990s), and I will say the inside looks as good as I've ever seen it. But it is in a less desirable area of downtown, and would hardly ever be considered a first date night destination. That said, I've always come away with the feeling of....why the heck do I love this food so? Wifey was feelin' it, and insisted on the Dinner for 2, for $50, with pretty much the most mundane offerings of the Chin-Amer fare that one could have, i.e., Almond Chicken, S&S Chicken, etc. I really wish I could give you some specific reason why we were just staring at each other and shaking our heads on how good it all was, but I guess I'll need another decade+ of reviewing to figure out how...

We were told not to go here by the front desk guy at our motel, so we had to go!? Very interesting mixed race young and old crowd. When two average looking white guys walk in, most of the crowed scurried away " cops are here"? The bartender was a bit grumpy at first, but he warmed after he figured out we were just regular guys. By that time there was only a few older white folks left listening to a DJ playing boom boom music, he didn't have any Doobie brothers or eagles in his set. The food was reasonable and tasted good, I get the feeling most patrons don't eat there.

I love this restaurant! Great Chinese food, well priced, vegan and vegetarian options, centrally located, two locations, and they deliver. They've been around nearly 70 years and I certainly view them as a Spokane tradition!

I took a friend there a few months ago and we did have fun visiting with each other, but the well drinks I got for her were about the only thing good about it.

Last night I was craving Chinese food for some reason and it's close to my place so I decided to relax and get out for a while, so thought I'd try it again.

As pointed out in several other reviews about the food, I had a couple of wraps of mushu pork and then kind of realized "where's the pork"?????? It was basically a very tiny bit of mystery meat sausage and all vegetables.

Then I realized there wasn't really any egg in it either so basically it was a huge plate of vegetables which had good flavor but for a huge expensive price tag as a "specialty" dish, it was absolutely not very "special".

When I told the waitress about it, I was told "maybe next time you should sit in the bar" so is that where the pork is hiding??? I thought they kept it in the kitchen.???

Why would I sit in the bar when I wasn't there to drink, and my main focus was on having some food and trying to just relax? Would I get more pork in my pork dish in the bar?

It just didn't make sense. And for the very high price of something I hadn't tried in years, I should have just gone to Mexican food, or for half the price I could have gotten a taco time vegetable burrito without pork and a delicious side of mexi fries.

Then they gave me a paper cup of the mystery pork and tried to upsell me some more of the wraps that you wrap it in to eat it, so they could make even more money off of an already overpriced dish that was not true mushu pork.

Sorry to say but I probably won't be back there again and should have just walked across the street to the grocery store by my apartment and had a better meal out of the deli case for less than...

I have gone to a few restaurants that serve shellfish in their dishes. I am extremely allergic. I make this known to the server before drinks or food is ordered. This time I should have walked out. The man who took our order didnt seem to care. Acted like why was I bothering him with this information, informed me that the only shellfish was shrimp and prawns. He didnt know about oyster sauce? The soup came out and that was it, one bite in and my tongue starts going numb. I pushed it away knew I was in trouble. My boyfriend ordered food with prawns which would have been fine, however his food was touching mine as the girl that brought it to us had both meals in one arm. She stopped two tables away from ours to adjust the food sorry lady I already saw that. My allergy progressed through the night and I almost ended up in the back of an ambulance. The worst dining experience I have ever had!! I will never go back! Be careful if you have allergies to food their lack of caring or understanding could have killed me!! Two days later a urgent care trip, a shot, a ton of medications and I am still wiped out. Not to mention their was someone in the kitchen coughing very badly while food...
