For reference, my normal review mode is to give top stars to great service or to say nothing. If I take time to give a negative review, it means it was B.A.D. I recently took my best friend there for birthday lunch. SERVICE: We went in the bar because it was the only place offered to have lunch. We waited and nobody showed up for quite a while. We were surprised there wasn't service anymore in the atrium part where they used to have delicious lunch and salads and such. I kid you not, the server was so overtly disinterested that it almost felt like a comedy sketch like, "yeah what do you want!" She looked around the room and nodded. We seemed like a bother to her, even though there were no other customers seated at tables and only two people on bar stools. FOOD: We got pork tacos and the meat was hard and super dry. To moisten it up, I asked for extra salsa. And get this; the server said that they did not have salsa, even though there was salsa on the taco. DECOR NIGHTMARE: We walked in and it is so poorly decorated and does not fit the Davenport brand at all. It has a feeling like a aging 90s bar, but not in a retro, fun, or fresh way. They spent millions using the colors that are on their way out, very cool blacks, depressing greys and dull white with no breakup of anything. See the picture that I'll add, it is not black and white. It is what it looks like in there. The massive atrium that used to light your eyes up with greenery and warmth in a garden-like feel now is like an outdated government building. SAD Wow, I was so excited to see the updates of this beloved hotel that's gone through different iterations through the years. From Red Lion to DoubleTree to whatever names they had, it always kept a sense of class and charm, cohesive with a garden like feel inside and out from entry to pool. At this hotel, I have attended and hosted events, celebrated milestones and dined countless times, from Windows of the Seasons to the former Garden Cafe to the lovely event spaces, and lodging: this place has always been so special to me. Four final reference, I'm not an old fogey, I might eat one night at the Hogwash Whiskey Den, and go another morning to Italia Trattoria or hit the Satellite Diner. I like variety and can roll with and truly enjoy change. This just happens to not be a good one. Bummer

Tough to rate this place accurately. At night, on a busy weekend, and being understaffed, this is a nightmare. On a Sunday morning, with the breakfast buffet, and plenty of time, it's not all bad. Late night dinner and drinks? Carve out some time because it's going to take a while. Stood at the bar for 10min before we got 4 beers. And there was no one in front of us. Asked for 2 waters later that evening and was told there were multiple orders ahead of us but they'd get to it eventually. Put in orders and the waitress disappeared for 10min. Staff was a mixed bag. Some friendly, and some a bit abrasive. Understaffed at night for sure. Chicken strips and fries were pretty good. Chicken quality was decent and the breading was extra crispy and delicious. The regular cheeseburger was on point. Good patty, fresh veggies, good sauce, and excellent toasted brioche bun. Would order that again! Overall, if you have other options I would take them. Maybe if you caught this during slack time it would be a better experience.

The good: the staff was very friendly and relatively attentive considering there were not a lot of them. The bad: the food reminds me of Dennys but with less flavor. Most items felt about $5 more expensive than they probably should have been. Our pepperoni pizza only had 1.5 pieces of pepperoni per slice, but otherwise was ok. The ugly: overheard the staff say they had run out of soap to wash the water glasses and it more wouldn’t arrive for a day or two. Hopefully hot water does the job :/

This was some of the worst food we have ever had. My sister ordered French toast with an apple compote. It came as four tiny pieces off the end of a French baguette and she was told “oh, we don’t have the Apple compote anymore”. I ordered eggs Benedict. It came with a smudge of some kind of yellow sauce, the ham on it was so tough I had trouble cutting it with a knife and the eggs were hard. The English muffin was so tough I couldn’t hardly cut it up either. We ordered coffee and it was so strong we couldn’t drink it. The pot must have been sitting on a burner for hours. The only reason I am giving them one star is our waitress tried hard to keep a smile on her face. This place needs to get some decent management and a decent chef. The place was almost empty and the person seating people was rude to everyone who came in. They had one other table when we got there and while we were there a table of six men came in. They were treated with the same indifference. They were told where they HAD to sit. Horrible place. Would not...
