1 star for the food. The pho might honestly be the worst pho I’ve ever had, but I bumped it up to 2 stars because the service was good and the restaurant is clean and open late. Came here at around 10pm and ordered two bowls of pho tai. It took 15 minutes to bring out our pho, even though there was only one other table (who already had their food). Anyone who eats pho knows it usually comes out pretty quickly because the broth should already be cooked and all they really have to do is boil the noodles and assemble, so what were they doing back there?? I’ve never waited more than 15 mins even at the busiest most popular pho shops. When it finally does come, I try the soup before adding anything and it just tastes so bad. It’s bland, stale tasting, and left a very weird aftertaste in my mouth. Absolutely did not taste like a rich pho broth that has been simmered with beef bones and aromatics for 10+ hours the way it should be. I’ve had $2 canned pho broths that tasted more flavorful than this. It somehow tasted like nothing and rancid at the same time. I don’t even think I can say it tasted like beef. The only good thing I can say about it is that it was hot. To top it all off, the noodles were slightly hard even after that long wait and there was no fresh basil/mint leaves with the bean sprouts. I wasn’t expecting anything crazy good this late at night, but I was extremely confused considering all the good reviews this place has. Maybe it was an off night or the other good reviews aren’t about the pho, but you would think a place with pho in their name would try harder on their main dish.

I've been to Pho@Telfair a few times now and have waited to do the review in case something changes and makes me want to give it at least four stars. Sadly, it did not. For all the Vietnamese restaurants in the Houston area, Pho@Telfair is good but nothing outstanding. From their soup menu, I have tried their chicken pho as well as their wonton soup with noodles. For the chicken pho, the broth seemed to be missing the well rounded flavor and the chicken was quite dry. For the wonton soup, there was a tangy taste to the broth that was not enjoyable. My husband has gotten their vegetarian pho and has enjoyed it. My brother got the BBQ ribs and it was really good - very well cooked as well as good flavoring. Now for me, the ONLY reason I continue to come back here is their fried rice. I am always on the search for good fried rice and Pho@Telfair definitely lives up to it. The rice has a bit of a smokey taste which I love. I have tried their chicken, shrimp and vegetable which are all good. The chicken is my favorite out of all three. Their prices are also very reasonable. Every time I have gone, their service has been SO slow. Regardless of being 1 of 2 patrons or 1 of 5 patrons, it is the same. If you are looking for a quick eat, this is not the place and you are better off getting take out at that point.

When we arrived we stood at the entrance for a couple minutes before being greeted by anyone, which was eventually a hand gesture to sit down anywhere. It took 10 minutes for the gentleman to come back and take our drink orders. This night was not busy at all. We ordered egg rolls for an appetizer which we received w/o lettuce or a dipping sauce. When we placed our order we asked for the beef on a specific dish to be cooked medium-well. Within a few mins an older, RUDE, unpleasant, aggressive woman came out of the kitchen to our table and began yelling at us for requesting medium-well beef. Eventually she returned to the kitchen when she realized we were standing firm of our temperature choice. I was sitting toward the kitchen door, therefore, I could see she was visibly upset and yelling at the staff, which is when we decided to pay for our underwhelming PHO and not take a chance with the second dish. We will not return.

I would give ZERO STARS if I could! The quality of this restaurant has gone completely down. If you plan to dine-in beware that your order will always come last to any order for pick up call., b/c they take those as top priority. My experience with restaurant was good until last night's incident. Again we were waiting for our order while many people who had called during our wait had top priority. When it came the the pork dumplings they look boiled as to the pan-fried picture that was in the menu. I asked for the waiter to take it back and pan fry it like the picture. It seemed like a dauntless task for him.

I also have to share that I am fluent in Vietnamese and this is a Vietnamese restaurant. I am able to order to where the staff can understand.

When I received my Bun Bo Hue order it was missing a lot of things like the pork hock which was also shown in the picture. The cook then appeared and said " yes, were out but that why I gave you more meat." I told her: not really, and if I was told they didn't have it I wouldn't have ordered it. I then head back to my table. I take a sip of the broth. It basically tasted like if you had boiled pho broth with lemongrass then pureed hot chili peppers and added it to the bowl. I had 3 bites and couldn't eat it.

*But here's the kicker to why I will never go back to this restaurant. That same cook walked up to my table and had the nerve to ask me in Vietnamese if my soup was spicy?

Me telling her in Vietnamese, not trying to cause a scene: Yes, it was. In fact it's not edible... if you tried to serve this to your American customers even they wouldn't be able to eat this.

The cook: oh really?

Me looking at her like this was all intentional. Adding pureed hot chili peppers and walking up to my table to ask how the soup that I chose was spicy was intentional.

I politely told her in Vietnamese if she keeps making food like this, she's going to get sued. She smiled and walked back to the kitchen.

Again, I will say that I will never go back to this restaurant. This place...

I normally would not waste my time doing a review but this needs to be known by the OWNER of this establishment. Went to try to dine in today around lunch time but upon entering the restaurant the guy (in glasses; must have been the owner?) at the counter did not even greet me and my husband and seemed very cold.

I have been to other Pho restaurants and normally they are very attentive but It felt awkward even asking him a question about the menu. My husband went ahead and ordered Pho for both of us anyway. We waited for about 20 minutes and still no food, the guy finally came by our table and bought us a couple of waters and my husband politely asked if the food was on it's way since we have been sitting at the table for a long time and he responded like he was irritated and mad "15 more minutes!!! " and claiming table beside us with a group had many orders.

We would have understood that they were busy with them but he could at least communicated nicely since we were also paying customers. He just went ahead and left and did not even bother to explain or apologize with the delay and again same POOR attitude like he did not want any customers in the restaurant. Me and my husband looked at each other and decided to just leave instead.

It's just sad that some restaurants treat customers this way like we owe them or something? Unfortunately this will be the FIRST and LAST TIME we will visit this place, the reviews looked great but this "BAD APPLE of a GUY" ruined it. I hope he sees this review and realizes that he should never treat customers like trash. This is such a pity. Good luck serving customers like this because this establishment WILL NOT LAST LONG, they might have good food according to the reviews but the SERVICE IS SO POOR I would rather just starve, If I could give them a lower star rating I would have given them...

The food is good but the customer service is very bad!!!! There’s only one male server who was so rude! I ordered the spicy beef pho and Iced tea for myself. My daughter and my wife ordered the grilled pork plate and chicken pho. The Iced tea was unsweetened but he doesn’t bother to give me some sugar packets, I kept on waiting for him to bring some but after 10 minutes I have to stand up and approached him while he’s sitting at the counter for some sugar packets that were behind the counter. During order taking I was asking him if one of the pictured item is the grilled beef spring roll, but instead of answering my question he just said, “there’s a lot there you can choose!!”. How hard is it to say yes or no to a customer asking you a straight question. Now the worst part is when I was already eating my spicy beef pho which by the way was really good but a little spicier than the other ones I tried from other place, I started coughing so hard because of the spicy broth that gets to my throat. I’m totally out of Iced tea to relieve my coughing and I was hoping the server would come and find out if I need more tea to drink and refill my glass. We were trying to get his attention and I was coughing really loud that my wife has started to start worrying, but the server just calmly watching tv at the counter like he doesn’t hear anything at all. I had to stand up and hand him my empty glass of Tea so he can refill it. I immediately sat into my chair while waiting for him to come back with my tea. He came back with a glass of tea but you can see his irritated face flashing at us. The worst customer service we ever had from a restaurant. Would definitely not go back there ever again and I’ll make sure I will tell everyone I know to...
