Moon Frog Arepas Food Truck — Restaurant in Tampa

This has been my go to lunch spot for 3 years now, i'd get the bowls at least 2 times a week. When they closed I was upset but excited to see there was a new owner and it wasn't gone completely. Went and got my regular chicken bowl and I was SO DISSAPOINTED. Does not taste remotely the same. Green sauce is watery, chicken & rice is bland, and the arepa bread is soggy, rubbery and has no crunch. No es el mismo que era. It's nothing like it was. It's edible and not the worst but I don't think I'll be going back as often as I used to unless things get better. Might try again in a few months and...

Moon Frog Arepas Food Truck came to Varela Westshore on Monday, 2 days ago. I have never tried Venezuelan food. My son and I had the Chicken Mechado and the Avocado Chicken. They were both so..oo yum... I believe the owners, Shane and Yosma attended to me. I was not even expecting a complimentary meal as they were closing up. 🇻🇪Very glad someone is making arepas in the downtown area. Arepas are almost like a thicc pita pocket made from corn meal and grilled / baked and filled with toppings.

Moon Frog has a two arepa lunch special that’ll hit the spot and let you try some different things on the menu. Definitely recommend Pabellon, especially if you’re looking to try a Venezuelan favorite.
