The night was filled with the sweet sound of a masterfully played Spanish acoustic guitar and the aromas of garlic and goat cheese! I sat at the bar and was welcomed with a Hendrix South side martini. The bar-hand recommended the mushrooms extravaganza which were packed with flavor and seductively creamy. By then I had move on to a smoky glass of Tempranillo Ribera del Duero which was a perfect pairing for the savory mushrooms and goat cheese crostini’s which were smothered in a rich cream and garlic sauce. Next up was the seafood stuffed piquillo peppers, which had originally drawn me the restaurant to begin with, and I was not disappointed. The piquillo peppers were exquisitely prepared. They had a palette coating smoky pepper cream sauce which was just what my Co19 tired soul needed. They peppers reminded me of a long forgotten visit to “el país Vasco” which was now lost in a post-pandemic memory. I finished the night with a liquor 43 yellow bird martini. Which just brought my evening to an end with the melancholic reminder that I was in Tampa, Florida and not Spain. This doctor fully recommends the prescription of visiting the Spain Restaurant and Toma Bar, if you are ever in Tampa. Regardless of your vaccination status, here you will find Five star food and atmosphere at a Two star price. Who needs a passport anyway. Salud!!

I began going here from the time this place opened so many years ago. I have to share that I absolutely loved their food. However, in the recent years it’s been hit or miss. I usually order the same thing and only change from time to time. Today though, I must say was a sort of last straw. My order is very specific but very clear and simple. Unbelievably they still get it wrong on some occasions but they manage to redo it. (You would think that if they can’t remember, they would write it down.) The problem comes when I’m standing there waiting for the order to be corrected and the person who is attending walks off to do something else while I stand there wondering when she’s going to get back to my order. To top out off I order a deviled crab (the last one there) and upon sitting down to enjoy it, it looks and tastes like it was fried to death and picked up from the floor (disgusting) - hard, dried out. Trust, I only opened it because there was nothing there consumable. How can you, in good conscience, even consider selling something in this condition!?! Needless to say, I know I won’t break their business, but after many years of hoping it would get better, I’m finally admitting to myself that it won’t… Good bye Spain, it wasn’t me… it was you!

We were looking for somewhere to eat tapas and luckily for us, we came across Spain restaurant and Toma bar! It was happy hour, 4-7, and we were hungry...and thirsty! We went in and were greeted by the friendly bartender, Alex R. He offered to make me a mojito and it was oh so delicious! Apparently he makes the best mojitos in town so don't forget to ask for him by name! ;) (His sangrias are good too!)The tapas were yummy and so pretty. I've always believed that you eat first with your eyes and everything looked good enough to eat! It was all fresh made and piping hot and very tasty! The prices are reasonable and the portions are fair. The atmosphere is very relaxing so come in and sit at the bar or grab a table!

When we were thinking about options to celebrate our wedding, we decided to make a reservation at a local restaurant. We thought about Spain Restaurant because we had our first Valentine’s dinner day there, and we remembered it as a nice experience. Since the first time we called, John, who is one of the owners/managers, was very nice and attentive. We explained to him that we were looking to accommodate a party of about 25 people for our wedding, which was only 3 weeks away. John confirmed they would be happy to reserve the space for us so we scheduled an appointment for the next day. During the meeting John explained in detail what the options were, including the food, beverages menu, and sitting for our guests. We liked these options along with the decorations, ambient and the fact that the restaurant has live music during the weekends, which our guests would enjoy at no extra cost to us. Also worth mentioning the whole cost was within our budget and affordable for what we were getting. One week before our wedding, Florida was hit by hurricane Irma. We thought we were going to have to cancel. After the hurricane passed, we knew we had to check with the restaurant to see if they would still be able to do our reception. Before we contacted them, John called us to let us know everything was still as originally planned and they were ready for our special day. We even called days before to increase the number of guests from 25 to 35 people, and it was not a problem at all. Every time we called with questions or new requests for our reservation, they were super friendly and happy to work with us to make our wedding as special as we wanted it. Our guests had a variety of options to choose from the food menu, and everything was delicious. The sangria and wine were very good too, and the service was phenomenal. During the whole process we felt like all of their attention was centered on us and our wedding, but they actually had another wedding during the same week and were doing the catering for a large event on the same day of our party. We are beyond satisfied to have chosen Spain Restaurant for our wedding celebration and would recommend them for any type of event. Thank you John and the entire Spain...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Spain Restaurant Toma Bar for a special occasion – my girlfriend's surprise 50th birthday party – and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff at The Spain Restaurant Toma Bar did an exceptional job of hosting our group of 20 people and ensuring that the event was a resounding success.

The wait staff at The Spain Restaurant Toma Bar were truly outstanding. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to accommodate our group. Their knowledge of the menu and their willingness to make recommendations made the dining experience truly delightful. Their professionalism and warm demeanor added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.

The food at The Spain Restaurant Toma Bar was absolutely delicious. The tapas were a hit with our group, and the piyaya was a particular standout. The flavors were authentic and the presentation was beautiful. It was evident that the kitchen takes great pride in their dishes, and it certainly showed in the quality of the food.

In addition to the fantastic cuisine, the entertainment provided at The Spain Restaurant Toma Bar was top-notch. It added an extra layer of fun and excitement to the evening, creating a lively and celebratory atmosphere. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the music and entertainment, and it truly enhanced the overall experience.

Overall, our visit to The Spain Restaurant Toma Bar was nothing short of phenomenal. The combination of excellent wait staff, delicious tapas and piyaya, and fantastic entertainment made for an unforgettable evening. I highly recommend The Spain Restaurant Toma Bar to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience or a venue to host a special event. Thank you to The Spain Restaurant Toma Bar for making my girlfriend's 50th birthday celebration a night...

Catering Tapas up to 8 are $25 total. I ordered 8 tapas and my bill was $162. That means if you make the mistake of assuming you will get the catering deal (well hidden in the menu) you will pay $20 per tapa. Very deceiving menu but not only that, the food is served on a ceramic white plate that gives it a very unconventional feel in comparison to a real tapa. The food was not good at all, I felt Inwas at a wannabe spanish restaurant that felt more like an american ran “spanish restaurant.” The live music was playing sting songs in a spanish guitar vibe, the guitar player couldn’t take requests because he didn’t even speak spanish and didn’t understand requests (Mine had to be played on spotify). The overall feel of the restaurant left a lot to be desired since we were sat by the waiter in the very corner (behind a wall) despite us having a week old reservation, we had no view of the stage and literally were given the worst spot in the entire table space distribution. In conclusion: my experience left my wife and I with the feeling we were overdressed in a restaurant that gave us the vibe of having walked into Chilli’s instead of a “nice spanish restaurant.” The food was terrible, overprized and the feel was more latin american than a proper european spanish spot. The menu was deceiving and rather than them adjusting the bill out of principle, the waiter acted dumb and apologized for the wrong information on the menu. I have NEVER paid $20 per tapa ANYWHERE in my life. This is the last time I take my wife to this $hit H0/E. This is not about being cheap, it’s about getting boned and overall thinking this place would actually allow us to have a decent date night. Well, we will not ever go back to that place, what a fake in...
