So my wife and I are new to Temecula, CA and we're looking for some good restaurants to eat at. Luckily, we live rt off of Winchester and are near some amazing spots!
Today after dropping off our 4 year old to TK, we decided to go out for breakfast. We did a quick search and found Annie's Cafe.
At first glance it seems like a quaint little dinner. There's a British flag out front which made me think of it as more of a pub at first.
Once you enter its clearly a dinner. They greet you warmly and it's one of those mom & pop dinners that you know is going to be good.
The menu is mostly breakfast bit does have some lunch and dinner items on the back side. I opted for chicken fried steak and a side of biscuits and gravy with an OJ.
My wife went for banana Nutella crepes with a couple eggs and corned beef hash and a coffee.
The service was excellent. We had multiple waitresses come around and refill our water and my wife's coffee and ask if we needed anything.
The food came out pretty quick and was sooooo good!! I got full about 2/3s of the way in but persevered and finished my plate lol. My wife ended up leaving some of her crepe for our little one later.
The steak was cooked perfectly. The gravy was thick and peppery, just the way I like it! The buscuits were soft and perfectly baked.
My wife's crepe was HUGE. It was the size if the entire plate. I was definitely rocking some green eyes as I looked over at her side. I may have stole a bite or two when she wasn't looking 😏.
They even broke out into a song and dance routine during our time! It may seem a little corny, but we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food!
We will definitely be coming back and...
Read moreReally disappointed this morning. We just moved to Murrieta a few months ago. I've been to this place three separate times and was very happy with the food and service. My brother came in from out of town and was excited to take him here for breakfast. We were seated fast, got our coffee fast, and order taken promptly. But that is where it ended. As we waited for our food I had clear view of the food counter. I had noticed that an order of French toast was sitting there and wondered if it was my brother's order. We waited over 25 minutes for our food. They were busy and I understand how that can happen but when they finally served us our food they did pull the French toast that had been sitting there for well over 15 minutes. I asked my brother to check to see if his food was warm and it was not. They took it back and re did it but even my food was cold. Our waitress spent much time running around doing little to nothing before we got our food. Even the couple that came in after us got their food and finished eating just after we got our food. When we left the guy parked next to us was leaving and it was an open parking space when we got there. I don't blame the cook for this one it was definitely on our waitress. I understand things happen and I will go back because this was the first time it's been like this and for the most part it's a great place to eat. If it continues to happen it could wind up being the first place on my list since we moved here.
UPDATE: We have been back several times and the food and service was awesome. Annie, thank you for taking your time to answer the review. I have not changed my...
Read moreNormally we always have good food here. We have been here several times, even on very busy days.
We decided to sit at the bar to avoid waiting an hour for a table. It look 20 mins sitting at the bar to get water and a coffee for me served. Never once were our cups refilled or even asked if I wanted more coffee. My daughter ordered the French toast platter. She was happy with that. I ordered the avocado toast. How can you justify charging $13 for two pieces of toast, a wafer thin spread of plain mashed avocado and undercooked cold eggs? Even the movie theater charges less and it tastes 1,000 times better!
I did request more avocado when I saw what was served and got back a heaping spread of it, so now it was too much and ruined the dish more. The avocado was just mashed and nothing added to it - not a single flavor or seasoning. No diced tomatoes on it and no sides. The menu said the dish came with a side. It was listed under the section that literally says all dishes come with a side. I wasn't offered one at all. This must be a new item on your menu, but I will never order this again.
I could tell that people were stressed there, lack of smiles and friendliness was really noticeable. One of the waitresses was carrying a plate in one hand and accidentally brushed it against another employee's longer hair (which was not up) as she was reaching around her for something and it got served that way. There needs to be more awareness in the kitchen and service lines and everyone should have...
