I took my family out for dinner and we decided on sushi. We heard good things about this place so we decided to stop on by and try it out. At first glance there was a line which was to be expected because it was a Friday night. I don't mind waiting in line for a solid place to eat. We were given a estimate on how long we were going to wait but waited about twice as long to get in, which wasn't too big of a deal but was the first red flag among many. Before we went in we saw a family drive up and go in. Obviously they knew the manager so they just walked in and sat down with her. This place, didn't take reservations either, so, seeing that they just went to the head of the line after my family and I, and many other families, had been waiting for roughly 45 minutes to an hour, this didn't set well with me. After that we finally got a table about 20 minutes later. I know what you're thinking, "You dummy, why'd you wait that long? Should've went somewhere else!" I was thinking the same but I had already invested way too much time waiting and we had called ahead to check on a couple more places we would've ate at and they had lengthy wait times as well so I just stayed. So, on to my dining experience. We finally sat down and ordered. The place, on a side note, had a bit of a weird smell...whatever, I waited over an hour to get in, looking past this detail. We were served our food and everything looked pretty good overall except one minor detail, there was a massive hair in my wife's sushi roll. Not on the plate, not on the roll, IN THE ROLL! It was one of those 12-14 inchers. I thought that's kind of gross but hey, it happens. No harm, no foul, just please make us another one. So we got her another roll. When our server came back with the remade roll I couldn't believe it...there was ANOTHER HAIR in my wife's sushi roll! Okay I get it, you messed up one time, no problem. You mess up the same kind of roll right after the first one. It must have been the kind of roll on the menu, "The Hairy Roll". We had our server take it back, who, might I add, was a sweetheart, but not her fault. At this point the manager brought us our final roll. I about lost it when I saw our third and final roll. There was another hair in it. The manager had the audacity to tell me that it was probably my wife or my daughter that was dropping hair on the food. It wasn't theirs, obviously. Both my wife and daughter have long strait hair. These hairs were colored differently and wavy. I thought I was on a candid camera show or something. We all were severely grossed out and appalled by being offended and charged full price for this food and horrible service from the manager. After this visit I would never eat here or recommend this place to my friends, family, or enemies...ever. Sushi...
Read moreWe’ve been loyal customers of Gin Sushi for years because the fish is always so fresh, and it’s usually one of our favorite spots in Temecula. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing because of the service we received.
My daughters and I ordered the All You Can Eat sushi, and my 10-year-old son ordered a sushi roll and a hand roll from the regular menu. Before he even took a bite, our waitress told us that if he ate anything from our plates, he’d be charged for All You Can Eat as well. We completely understood and immediately took back the one piece of sushi and gyoza he was about to try. We even ordered him his own gyoza.
Later, when our hand rolls arrived, I noticed mine (ordered from the All You Can Eat) looked different from my son’s — even though they were the same roll on the menu. The waitress explained that the sushi chefs purposely exclude certain ingredients for All You Can Eat orders, which surprised us since the menu doesn’t mention this. She kindly offered to bring the missing items, and we appreciated that gesture.
A few minutes later, a male employee (who we later learned was named Steve) came to our table and, instead of calmly clarifying the situation, abruptly asked with attitude, “What’s the problem?” He repeated what the waitress had already explained but with an unprofessional tone and poor body language. When I asked if the menu stated that All You Can Eat rolls are made differently, he admitted it didn’t. We simply wanted clarification, not conflict — but his demeanor made the situation uncomfortable for all of us. After that, the waitress avoided our table, and we felt unwelcome for the rest of the meal.
Toward the end, when I asked about ordering a spicy chicken bowl to go, the same male employee mocked my question and responded sarcastically. His attitude throughout our visit was uncalled for, and it left us disappointed and honestly heartbroken. We used to love Gin Sushi and would recommend it to friends, but this experience really changed how we feel about coming back.
If Steve is the manager or owner, I truly hope he reflects on how this kind of treatment affects loyal customers. Gin Sushi has great food — but respect and kindness should always be part of the dining experience, too. And with treatment like this we will most likely not...
Read moreDO NOT SUPPORT ** Me and the wife went our for date night, which isn't often as we have two littles at home. We were craving sushi and sake so we decided to hit GIN Sushi. We got there around 7:45pm .Got seated rather quickly it was a Thursday night and we were given a sheet of paper and pencil and asked what we wanted to drink. It was all gong great as we have been here before always have AYCE sushi. We order our rolls thru the sheet that was provided and then the waitress tells us its last call and if there was any last items we wanted to add so we did add 4 more rolls. We get the Bill and Its over $100 ! immediately I ask the waitress that there has been a mistake and she tells us that there is NO AYCE after 8PM ...Which then my wife and looked stunned . Nowhere did it state this policy and we checked for signs and nothing. We ask her why were we not made aware as we assumed we are ordering AYCE as we have the past few times we have been there. She is very young definitely under 21 and has a lack of experience dealing with customers which is fine , we ask to speak to the manager. Older lady walks up pretty sure she's the owner and we explain and told her we had no idea and were not made aware of this policy. She repeats her policy to us and was rude as if we where trying to rip them off and made us feel like we where bad customers. She then goes in to say that the sushi that was provided was made with extra stuff and not the AYCE way and expects us to pay the bill. We told her that fine we will pay as we would never not pay obviously and we tell her that we felt lied to and this policy should be stated in her restaurant and staff should make customer aware before serving them. She then states that its only so much more $$$ than the usual AYCE price. Which again is not the point we where never told of this policy and nowhere did it state that after 8pm you cant order aYCE its about the principal and we felt like they were ripping us off whether its $25 or $50 more than usual it doesn't matter.in the end we left our date night with a bad taste in our mouth regretting our decision to go there. We love to support local small business every time we can as Temeculans. We will never eat at this establishment again as we Don't support bad service and when business try and...
