It was my first time trying Ethiopian food with two of my friends at about 10 pm at night. Could not have been a more pleasant experience. I am a big fan of hole in the wall type joints that are more down to earth in atmosphere. Felt like I was eating at an Ethiopian friend's mom's house. We ordered the meat & vegan combo for 3 of us, I wasn't sure if the portions were gonna be enough initially but we were all full and satiated by the end of our meal. If you're looking for authentic home-cooked by mom caliber of food, you gotta come here! It DID take a little while for the food to come out, must have been maybe 30-40 min max we were waiting. But I'm telling you, the wait was worth it! Food was freshly cooked and that first bite you take is immaculate!! And no this isn't no dang bot review, I had a genuine pleasure speaking to the owners of the restaurant after our meal and they were super humble and respectful hardworking people. Take my word for it, if you already like Indian or Pakistani cuisine, you most likely will definitely enjoy Ethiopian food. If you don't like those cuisines mentioned above, then this may not be the place for you. But rest assured, I'mma be coming back here in the future...
Read moreI asked the wifey what she wanted for our weekend jaunt. Once a week or so, we get out to eat and always try to find a new place, but also to support local business.
Her choice was Ethiopian cuisine. And while there are some great Ethiopian restaurants in the valley, we wanted to try a new local place. I always do research so we decided upon Ethiopian Famous.
I read that it was just the owner and her son, and saw that they had a small menu so knew what to expect somewhat.
A very charming spot. Apparently they have a coffee ceremony regularly but we hadn’t been aware of that and ate fairly early so we missed it.
The proprietor was so warm and welcoming and charming. It felt as though we were welcomed into her home.
My wifey loves lamb so got the lamb stew. Awesome!!! I decided upon the vegetarian sampler. Awesome!!!
There was plenty on injera (buckwheat I think) and we had enough food that we had leftovers. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was relaxed and friendly. The presentation was wonderful.
With two meals and a couple of beers we totaled @ $50. Totally worth every...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I stopped by for dinner, after our first Ethiopian food experience on a vacation in Florida, that we really enjoyed. We're really happy to have found this restaurant only a few miles from our home. We had the Meat and Vegan combo, and it was so flavorful and delicious. The injera was tangy and soft, and absorbed all of the flavors beautifully. We learned that injera is made from ancient grains, and fermented -- making it much easier to digest, and a good option for diabetics, thanks to the fermentation and slow digestion qualities of ancient grains. Much healthier than white flour! It was good to know they offer both vegan and gluten free dishes.
We really enjoyed the gravy's that each of the offerings were covered in, the hot tea offering, and of course, the service! We'll be adding Ethiopian Famous Restaurant to our normal rotation of...
