Hideaway Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

The Hideaway Cafe is truly a hidden gem. I worked in the Verizon building across the street, and even though there is a cafeteria in the building, the Hideaway Cafe was my place of choice. The owners and employees are great people, and they work hard at providing excellent food, and darn good prices and portions. And if you love soups, they make all of them from scratch, and they're all delicious, but their Cream of Tomato soup is addictive, pair it with a Grilled cheese sandwich and you'll think you've gone to Heaven. My experience here was not good. Ana there is very rude. I ordered 3 breakfast sandwiches she forgot to put mayonnaise in the bag. It was their error so I walked there to pick it up. I asked the woman her name and as I was writing it down on a piece of paper she snatched it out of my hand . The reason I wanted her name is because I wanted to make a complaint. I go here sometimes when I am pressed for time because it is right down the block from me and I can walk there. The woman behind the counter is always very friendly but I do think the place is overpriced and not always consistent with their prices. They charged me $7 for a sandwich with just cheese, lettuce and tomato, no meat just cheese. Other times it was a little cheaper. Looking at the menu, sandwiches with meat and cheese are basically the same price. I’m going to stick with the other deli which is just a short drive away but...
