Very disappointed ☹️ with the service- I first came in excited to find an Honduran restaurant because I am Honduran. Once I am inside I am absolutely beside myself with happiness because I see t-shirts from Tela atlantida and my family are Teleños-
The first disappointment came from ordering banana soda and the price was nearly $8 and I have found it in latin markets in WA for around $3.49 or thereabouts.
As I pay I don’t tip and as I am about to walk out to tell my mom about this restaurant to come here the server stops me and asks if I am going to tip him…
I told him, “No, I won’t tip you for handing me a soda that I will drink outside “. 🫤😑
I come back later with my mom and order chicken flautas (basically Honduran tacos that are rolled up) and these unbelievably thick, heavy corn tortillas greet us smothered with heavy sauces of all strange types and smelling of mayo, ketchup, mustard and I don’t know what else was used. I couldn’t enjoy the encurtido because of that nor the chicken flautas.
It takes away the natural flavor and tastes bad in my opinion. It’s not traditional and it’s like a strange asian fusion on top. I don’t like it, I wish it came with a warning: do you want to add tons of strange sauces to your food? That way you can opt out.
Speaking of which it says it’s also a Mexican restaurant but the salsa was positively disgusting- 🤢 tastes bad and then lingers on your mouth and then it tastes worse.
It’s definitely not fresh salsa, and it shows. Salsa should be the easiest to make and this was like cheap canned salsa sauce with mustard and other weird flavors. Not a Mexican sauce to remember.
The chips are not but not good either. Not freshly baked/fried.
The green plantain chips were good though.
The horchata was made fresh by them but had too much sugar to enjoy the different notes.
The pastelitos (similar to empanadas) were smothered in sauce and I couldn’t eat it as well.
The baleada, handmade flour tortillas with beans, egg, and cream were just so-so too. Smothered in cream, the beans didn’t taste good, and just very disappointed. Added tons of cream here too and I couldn’t enjoy my baleada either. Even had some indigestion after eating what I did.
My mom went to use the restroom 🚻 and after using it discovered there was no soap-
We informed our server and it took over 15 minutes to change it. We couldn’t start eating without washing our hands and we were the only customer being served outside of another gentleman who was eating and had been served.
Slow service.
Later my mom could finally wash her hands and I could too but just very bad service. The lady who changed the soap Juanita my mom said was nice though when she finally did change it.
The server took forever to let Juanita know to change the soap too!
😓Waste of time and money. Very disappointed, I can’t recommend. 👎
No comimos mucho. Fue un...
Read moreI want to give 2.5 so I'm rounding down I guess.
First of all, we were seated without menus or water or place settings. Sure, chips and salsa came somewhat quickly but the water still took far longer than it should for a small (albeit one third full) restaurant.
And the salsa was overly sweet. And not in a stewed/reconstituted by tomatoes kind of way: more like it tasted like it had added sugar. The roasted salsa and avo salsa also tasted . . . Different . . . from others I've had.
When they brought the water we ordered the dip trio (beans, guac, queso); which was ok, but it came without any chips (which were included). So we had to wait to start eating.
We ordered a combination plate of one chicken enchilada and one pork tamale (with rice and beans). These items came on an oversized plate with the two main items covered in a somewhat bright orange sauce.
It took a second but I figured out that it tasted like a creamy tomato soup (from a can); more like a tomato bisque than a red enchilada sauce.
The tamale and and the enchilada were tasty on their own and served at optimum temperature. The Masa in the tamale was the star of the meal.
When we were done, despite needing a box, the server insisted we consider dessert and when she came back and we said we didn't want anything else she just turned around to talk to another table.
Finally the check came.
Also, I should mention that I moved back to Seattle after many years in San Diego, where taquerias and taco trucks (owned and operated by first and second generation latin-americans) are plentiful. Having never spent much time in Mexico I cannot personally attest to the "authenticity" of the food at Los Bigotes De Villa, but I've never tasted anything like this.
The service was tolerable and they were all very nice but it just felt cold and impersonal. The food was ok and while it was edible I don't think I'd...
Read moreI WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD. DO NOT EAT HERE. I am not sure where all these are reviews are coming from this place is terrible. The food is absolutely inedible and the attitude of the people that worked there was not any better. When I first walked in the people were friendly and sat us quickly. The salsa they served with the chips was really sweet and not what I expected. I ordered the chicken in mole with rice and beans. The chicken tasted as if it was just covered in Hersey’s syrup. I tried the bean and rice neither of which had any real flavor. At that point I sent the order back telling them that the dish was inedible. I am not really sure what my friend ordered, but there was shrimp and rice involved. She ate about half of it and could not finish it because it did not taste very good. When we first ordered our lunch we requested two taco’s to go with an order of refried beans. Turns out that order was too much for them to handle, which we did not figure out until we got back to the office. Then gave use two taco with the wrong meat choice and rice not beans. When the check came the dish I ordered was on the bill. I asked to have it removed seeing that I could not eat it the woman refused. She told me that that is just how they make it and that she would take 50% off my dish. Great I only had to pay $8 for food that I could not eat. I will never be back and I do not recommend that you go there either. You would be better off getting a hot dog from the...
