Even though the manager was awful, the rest of the visit was fine.
Upon arrival, we found a short waiting list. No problem, we were just happy to be out as a family eating again. We waited 10 minutes or so and we're called in for seating.
We were instructed to scan the Barcode located on the table and order from the electronic menu, no problem at all with us.
We scanned the Barcode, located on our indoor dining table and saw the family feast, $35 each. We ordered drinks and 2 family feasts, ready to spend almost $100 here. The waitress was very friendly and let us know that usually people take that to go but she saw no problem with us eating it inside. We even said no extra dishes required, etc as we appreciated her attitude and helpfulness. She then confirmed that the cooks would plate it up etc and we were all on the same page with no issues at all to report. 5 star staff so far.
This process took oh, maybe 10 minutes or so and then after ordering we sat and chatted with each other for about 10 more minutes until the manager approached us and said there was no way she would give us this meal for dine in. We had to take it and leave. I asked about the outdoor seating and she said we could eat in the drizzle of we chose to but because of pricing on the item, she would not allow us to eat inside, but would allow us to sit 5 feet from the door, leave all our trash out and there and not tip. I let her know that we had ordered almost 20 minutes ago and weren't expecting this blow that much later. She simply didn't care and said too bad. We could order separate plates or order to go.
We did end up ordering separate plates for less total money, more work for wait/kitchen staff, leaving angry and sharing this instead of spending more and sharing a positive review all due to the manager.
So long as she is manager, I will spread her horrible service story and suggest that you eat anywhere else but...
Read moreEvery time I’ve gone with my husband and son, the service has been fine, no real issues. Food is fine, nothing special but it’s perfect to bring our three year old. The last few times my husband has gone alone with our son, he’s had terrible service. The person who greeted and seated my family is an older Hispanic gentleman and is always rude and dismissive to them every time they have gone without me. He didn’t ask if my son if needed a children’s menu or booster seat and he is 3 years old. However, he seated another family right next to them which had three young children and he gave them each a coloring book, children’s menu, and crayons. Why would my family not get the same treatment? My husband is African and my son is mixed. It’s not a good look to be openly mistreating people based on what they look like and their skin color. They have never treated us this way when I have been with them so I know that it is based off race and assuming that my husband is most likely poor so he wouldn’t tip well. To give the adult menu to a child so that my husband could not order a child’s meal for our son is outrageous. My husband and I both worked in hospitality and restaurants for years so we know what’s happening. It’s truly disgusting that we are still dealing with these kinds of people in 2023 and one of the most progressive states in the country. Please do better at educating your employees non-discriminatory practices. Unfortunately, we will have to find a new breakfast place to go to and will definitely let people know that this...
Read moreGreeter was self absorbed in general. I mentioned the location was hard to find and he brushed me off. I was alone for and early lunch for work just wanting a quiet place and pancakes. I was seated in the open area near boisterous Millennials. (Greeter didn't ask what I preferred.) I need to use the restroom before anything else and it was cleaning time. I waited, watching the worker empty the trash, etc. Looking like it was goi ng to be awhile, I noticed a seat in a more enclosed area near a family that was more inviting. I asked the different greeter at the desk if I could move, he agreed so I retrieved my menu waiting at the new table for the bathroom to open. It seemed like forever as I had just been driving for 4 hours but I was finally able to use it then actually look at the menu. Waiter is the first server who seated me and not helpful to me. He appeared focused on what worked for him. Waiter for my new area must be a lead as she was managing breaks and coverage but she decided to do it while waiting on tables yelling across the restaurant with a low class attitude. I love IHop and this would be my worst experience in 30 years. I ordered $10 of food and tipped $10 in hopes of better future service. Fyi: location is on outside mall corner not easily found from opposite driving direction. Maps told me I was there and I turned into the driveway but it could not tell me which part of...
