This restaurant is very nice, warm, and decorated well. The ambience is inviting. I wish i could say the same for the service. I walked in by myself to have dinner after work while I wait for my family to arrive at seatac Airport. I was told I can sit in the bar, which was pretty empty when I arrived. I picked a table and sat down. A waitress eventually set her broom down only to tell me "you can't sit in this booth because this section is closed." No problem, I understand, I guess. She told me I could sit at the bar top. That's not comfortable and I don't sit at bar tops. I asked if it was OK to sit in one of the many 2-person tables available in the bar area. She said sure, as if it was the most annoying thing to ask for. She proceeded to serve a couple that came in and got seated after me. Eventually she came over to ask what I'd like. Not friendly, quite rude and short with me. That's fine, I'm still not bothered. I order wine and tortilla soup. The soup came out without the tortilla twists it is supposed to come with. After all, it is tortilla soup. She never checks back to see if everything is OK or if I need anything else. Meanwhile, two people come in and sit at the table I originally sat at. And they are waited on right away. Eventually, my server has to take an order from the table next to me so I'm able to ask about the missing tortilla twists. She apologized but also told me I could just use the chips on the table. She asked if there was anything else I needed. I asked for another glass of wine. She took my current glass that wasn't empty and forgot about bringing me another glass all together. Maybe ten minutes later she asked if I needed anything else. I reminded her that I am just waiting for my other glass of wine. She apologized and brought the wine and said this one was on them. That's nice, but I don't feel great sitting here at all. This was supposed to be a nice, relaxing end to my long day while waiting for my family to arrive. It's times like these that I feel tested to continue to respond and act in kindness, and I did. I hope my server is blessed and has a better...
Read moreThe server we had was some of the best service I've ever had! Normally you wait a while to get served in self-seat bar areas, but he was there immediately and checked in often. I have no idea how he was able to check on us much at all because they were absolutely slammed.
I also have no idea how the bartender made my margarita flight so fast! Absolutely suggest getting the flight so you can try a few and figure out your favorite to get a big glass.
The food is probably the best Mexican I have ever had. The salsa actually has a slight kick to it, unlike a lot of restaurants. I will say if you don't do spice well, you might want to ask for a recommendation on dishes depending on your heat tolerance. Our waiter said the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers were like playing roulette and that was a very good comparison. Good kick to all of them, but my husband got one that he says might be the spiciest pepper he's ever eaten straight. He almost caved and took the waiter's offer of chocolate milk. I only wish we would have ordered about a hundred of those poppers. His enchiladas were out of this world and if my parilla bowl hadn't been so delicious I would have stolen his meal! They do something a little different with the spice balance in the enchilada sauce that I can't quite place and it is to die for.
The cilantro rice went really well with my parilla bowl and the Mexican rice must have been delicious because that's the only time I've seen my husband eat all the rice on his plate when he's already feeling full from chips.
The fancy goat milk sauce/caramel with the churros is also amazing and super smooth.
I think the only minor downside was the bar tables are a smidge close, but once the guy behind me and I both scooted in a bit it wasn't a huge issue. If you get stuck by someone not aware of their surroundings that might suck but most people seemed to be nice about it that I saw.
All around just a fantastic spot, I can't wait to go back and try some of the fancy tequilas as well! Make sure you take a peek at the bottles if you're in the bar, there are some absolutely...
Read moreIt takes a lot for somebody to write a review these days where all people talk abt is layoffs, inflation, jobs data, recession etc. But there is truly an impressive person at this restaurant who stole our hearts tonight who deserved and commanded a review with her amazingness. Her name is Guadalupe R. Atleast that’s what it says on the receipt. She has been truly incredible for a party of four of us today. I will tell you why as well. I went to return a pant in Macys today as the size wasn’t right. I was denied an exchange or a refund or a store credit. I asked them to pull my credit card details to show them how much I shop in Macys in a year to exchange a pant amidst my busy life. They not only lost a 15 year loyal customer like me with their bad judging attitude, but they lost atleast 9-10K of my business a year for the rest of their existence and much more with my word of mouth. After this bad incident I walk into this restaurant with friends right next to Macys where this lady greeted, welcomed and walked me from entrance to my table with all smiles. She tried to cheer me up seeing me upset about something. I thought she was just doing her duty. But no, she had passion. My friend spilled his drink and she doesn’t worry a bit. Cleans up the table and moves our table and resets all of us 10 on 10 like nothing happened. She kept checking on us time to time, gave us good food recommendations wen she didn’t have to, made sure our water glasses were filled time to time, food was served warm and finally gave us everything delightfully and only more. Its rare you see somebody doing what they love with passion and not something just cos its their duty or cos they wanna get tips. She literally turned my bad day into a good one with her hearty smile and good food. Reminded me the power of smile and staying positive at 10 PM in the night. Made this restaurant my favorite place to hang out. Loved it. Period!! While Macys lost my trust, Moctezuma earned my trust in abundance. Thank you...
