Wow, this place is seriously overrated. Went here Sunday night after nice dinner in the village as we really wanted to get ice cream at Joe's Deli (which unfortunately had already closed) and seeing the high overall rating for Sundae figured it'd be just as good. Wrong. Long lines (to be expected, as I've never not seen it this way), but service was also kind of abrupt and really not super friendly (I get it, it was Sunday night about 20 min before closing with a long line of customers to serve and probably many of us are annoying in wanting to try a sample before buying, but still-would kinda like it if when I walk up to the counter after waiting 20+ minutes to get an $6 ice cream cone I'm greeted with more than just a blank stare.) Also, we asked for cones and got bowls instead - not sure why the servers didn't ask if we wanted cone or cup, I guess it was just assumed but would have been nice if they asked - didn't feel like making a big deal out of it considering the long line and how busy it already was, but whatever. The ice cream wasn't even that good - glad at least the servers were nice enough to let us try a couple flavors (smores, strawberry basil, salted caramel cookie thing IIRC) but I was really quite underwhelmed with the whole thing. Ended up ordering mint milk chocolate kids cone (which they just gave us in a compostable bowl) and the salted caramel cookie thing, which were really just OK. Feel like I've had better ice cream out of the carton buying Whole Foods brand. Yes, it's only ice cream, certainly not the end of the world that it wasn't amazing, but between the long wait, indifferent service, meh product AND the fact that I saw a little mouse scurrying right in front of the shop while we were waiting in line I think I'll pass on returning here and would advise others to get their ice cream fix at Joe's...

Absolutely terrible experience. The staff at Sundae were incredibly rude and unprofessional. After letting a long line of customers wait for over 15–20 minutes, they abruptly closed the door without any warning—right at closing time—leaving a dad inside and his three young kids locked out. They refused to let the kids in, even though their parent was already inside ordering.
To make matters worse, they tack on an extra 10% “service fee” that’s not disclosed anywhere clearly. When I asked the cashier about it, she wouldn’t answer and had another employee come over. That employee pointed to a faded, nearly illegible sticker on the register and told me that explained it. When I said I couldn’t read it and politely asked for an explanation, she flat-out said she didn’t feel like explaining it.
Miranda had one of the worst attitudes I’ve encountered in customer service. With that kind of treatment and lack of transparency, I’ll never be back—and I’d strongly suggest others avoid...
Read moreI'm not one for ice cream in cold weather, but Raz is, so when we saw site-made small-batch ice cream when we were adventuring through Vail, he insisted we stop in and try it. We didn't have any toppings mixed into our scoops, since I didn't realize at the time that they do that. Thus, my avocado coconut and his Caramelized Banana had to get by on their own merits.
Mine was smooth and rich, like all good things made with avocado should be, but neither the avocado nor the coconut flavors really made themselves bold or memorable. Despite being able to smell the Banana in Raz's cup from across the street, that flavor wasn't precisely bold either. Perhaps my tastebuds were simply frozen before I even put the ice cream on them, or perhaps the local palate runs to deep subtlety.
Any way you dish it, though, it's smooth, rich, creamy, small-batch ice cream made local to the store, so it gets the fourth star for...
