I am absolutely appalled at the level of service I received yesterday. Allow me to explain, I came to this establishment yesterday as they were participating in the Margarita & Mimosa Fest. Their restaurant was at about 75-80% occupancy, I’d estimate.
Firstly, they were poorly staffed. This is concerning because it is a high vacation season, a Saturday, and a festival they choose to participate in.
Secondly, they had no plan of execution to service more than 50% occupancy.
Now let me explain the actual incident. I walked in with a daily decent size party of 8 well educated women. We were prepared to spend a substantial amount of money and provide a review. However, we not greeted upon arrival. They did not have enough chairs at their high or low tables.
We sat ourselves at a table outside in the back. It was extremely hot yesterday. After about 15 mins of waiting at the table a female waitress approached the table. I did not get her name because she did not introduce herself. She yelled over from another table and said, “have y’all been served”. Next, she walked over and threw down a few paper menus and walked away. We didn’t even have a split second to ask for water. She began serving another table looked over at us and said it’s gonna be a long wait. She approached our table and said, “ we are really busy and we’ve had to kick people out for there attitude so…”
I looked at my girlfriends in sheer confusion. Not one of us engaged in an inappropriate manner nor did we exhibit any behavior that would warrant such a response.
I got up from my table attempting to locate a waitress or waiter to ask for water. I happened to see the waitress. I politely said, “excuse me ma’am when you can, please bring the table some waters”. She rudely responded, “I don’t know when we are really busy.” I responded, “ I understand, do you think if I walk up to the bar I’d be able to get a cup of water”.
She once again rudely responded, “look I don’t know we are busy. You have to wait. You get it eventually.”
I calmly stated, “ ma’am for a cup of water?”
She walked away and did not respond. She then completed something and walked over to our tables. This woman was slurring her speech, slightly spitting as she spoke, and appeared to be inebriated in some form or fashion.
A few moments passed, I along with my friends stood up to walk to a high top table in closer proximity to the bar. For one reason, our table was farther and we considered this location to be a little better in terms of service. In addition, one of the friends older aunt and cousin were sitting adjacent to the table. RelocatingIn would permit us to chat with them.
As we began transitioning to the table, the same waitress runs over bangs on the table and say…”-ahhh ahhh ahh you can’t sit here this table is for a larger party. You can’t sit here.”
The parties were equivalent in size if not our party was larger. Also, their party was an all white family and our was mid thirties and late twenties year old black women. Our waitress was a white women.
Both my friend and I asked, why would this be an issue as we were already here first. We had not yet been served and our party was just as big.
The waitress tilted her head to the side and said, no you can sit here. What is wrong with you. Are you in daze. Why are you looking at me like that.”
She said this is a loud tone to where ever one around her could hear as she drew an audience. The people surrounding began to comment saying that her behavior was unnecessary and rude.
I said ma’am do not speak to me this way. I have not addressed you like you’re addressing me. Do not speak to me in this rude tone. I asked to speak with a manager.
She said I am the one of managers.
I said okay I would like to speak with another one please.
I then proceeded to walk away. My friends spoke with the manager and left.
I have never in my life encounter behavior such as this nor have I treated anyone this way. This women was racist and rude. She provided poor service and threatened to kick us out for...
Read moreSo we came to Johny' for the oyster special and the crabcake special. The oysters were fine while the fries were over cooked. The crabcakes were most certainly undercooked. Mushy and pasty in the middle. In fact I could still taste the flower. When we asked to replace the crabcakes we were initially told an emphatic "no". So right there that was poor customer service to tell a patron they would have to pay for the undercooked food they didn't like as well as what they ordered to replace it is just ridiculous. But the customer service here gets even worse. For the remainder of my meal (about 45 mins) I sat with an empty glass of water while our waitor Gabe filled, and refilled his giant water bottle and watched television sitting down in a booth a mere feet away. But Gabe was new and by moral right I should excuse him, but what about the 40 year old bartender or other server sitting next to Gabe who was also sitting down drinking water. When the Bartender finally meandered over in his flip flops and corroborated the Ludacris idea that my dinner mate would be expected to pay for food that was not fit to eat. After I stepped in his tune reluctantly changed but not before pointing out that my dinner mate had taken two bites from one of the crabcakes. Miserable service! I was allowed to sit in a booth where water was leaking from the roof. I could go on and on about the shortcomings I encountered at Johnny Mannanas. I will just issue this...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went here on September 10th as we were vacationing in Virginia Beach that weekend. We sat inside after waiting 5 or so minutes to be seated until someone acknowledged us but did not greet us and said “Oh you can sit anywhere”. We decided to sit inside waited almost 10 mins for menus, mind you they were not busy at all. The food was a 1/10 my boyfriend had a burger that was still pink (he asked for well done) and was served luke warm, the fries also tasted like they were cooked in old oil. I had steak tacos that were served cold. The tortilla and the chips that it comes with were stale. The air vents were moldy and water was dripping from them onto our table and food and when my boyfriend mentioned it to the waitress and the cook they both said it’s just the AC and completely disregarded that we can clearly see they’re moldy and they didn’t care that it dropped onto our food. They all seemed very nonchalant and were more concerned with talking to each other and counting out their tips on the bar than attending to their customers. One of the waitresses was walking around barefoot and looked like she just rolled out of bed smh. This was the most disgusting and unprofessional restaurant I’ve ever been to! Save your money and go...
