This is a cute little coffee shop near the oceanfront. I have been here twice and planned to come many more times since the ocean is my best friend. However, the second time was not a good experience. The young lady who took my order was very pleasant until a regular customer walked in a minute after taking my order. The young lady stopped working on my order (2 bagels with cream cheese and a croissant) to make the customers order who walked in a minute behind me and the customer was off on her way (her food also needed to be heated up) I walked over to the counter to see why my food wasn’t done and I realized she had burned one of my bagels and had to put a fresh bagel to toast. (Another wait) I let her finish my order and once it was done I politely told her it was very rude of her to stop my order to take care of someone she knew very well. The only people around was myself and the lady who walked behind me so I was very aware of what was going on. It was very rude and a horrible way to treat someone. I waited about 20-30 mins to get my food when no customers were inside when I ordered my food and she had already made one bagel and toasted...
Read moreWas so excited to visit what I thought was a cute and quaint beach coffee shop with my family. Instead I was greeted with hostility. My husband asked the cashier where the restroom was. She informed us that that they do not have restrooms. My husband asked “even for paying customers?” She reiterated that they do not have any restrooms for customers and instead directed us to go across the street to CVS to use their facilities. On the way out I told my husband that I thought it was against local law to sell food and beverages without providing restrooms and what seemed to be a worker coming on shift rudely yelled at me from the doorway after I already left the shop “Actually it’s not against local laws. There is another bathroom really close. It’s not a big deal.” I found it extremely unprofessional to yell at a potential customer from your doorway who has already left your restaurant while bystanders observe. Would not recommend this place simply because of this experience. Couldn’t tell you about their food or beverages since I didn’t get that far. Have never seen a restaurant or cafe not offer restrooms for...

I’ve been coming to Perked Up for years and always considered it one of my favorite spots in VB — the coffee, the service, the whole vibe used to be unmatched. But after my experience today, I won’t be coming back.
The woman working — was hands-down the rudest employee I’ve ever encountered at any coffee shop. She yelled at us multiple times just for trying to enter the shop, saying to keep the door closed, even though we were clearly just walking in like normal customers. When we politely asked where the ice was, she turned around, gave us the nastiest look, and snapped, “I’m clearly working and doing something right now — you’re going to have to wait.” Moments later, she turned around and yelled at a child.
I’ve never experienced anything like that here before. It was uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and honestly just shocking. I hate to leave this kind of review for a place I once loved, but people should be aware of how poorly customers are now being treated. So...
