Taste at the Virginia Beach waterfront, specifically the Oceanfront location on Pacific Avenue, offers a consistently enjoyable experience for those seeking fresh, quality sandwiches, salads, and gourmet provisions. It's a solid four-star destination for a satisfying and slightly elevated casual meal by the beach. What truly sets Taste apart is its commitment to quality ingredients and thoughtfully crafted menu items. Their sandwiches are the real draw – always fresh, with unique combinations and that famous house dressing that elevates even a simple turkey and cheddar. The bread is consistently good, and the fillings are generous. Beyond sandwiches, their salads are fresh and vibrant, and they often have delicious homemade soups. It's a great alternative to typical boardwalk fare, offering something a bit more wholesome and refined. The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting, though it can get busy, especially during lunch rushes and peak season. While not directly on the boardwalk with ocean views, its proximity to the beach makes it a convenient and desirable stop. The dual concept of a specialty food market and a cafe is a nice touch, allowing you to pick up gourmet snacks, wines, and gifts alongside your meal. This makes it a great spot to grab a picnic for the beach or supplies for your rental. Service is generally efficient and friendly, even when the lines are long. The staff is knowledgeable about the products and can offer recommendations. It's clear they take pride in what they offer. So, why not five stars? While the food quality is high, the prices can be on the higher side for what is essentially a sandwich shop, which might deter some for everyday dining. Also, at times, especially when very busy, the service can feel a little rushed, and finding a table can be a challenge. It's a fantastic spot for grabbing food to go or for a quick, quality bite, but it might not be the place for a lingering, leisurely meal. However, for its reliable quality, delicious sandwiches, and convenient location near the Virginia Beach waterfront, Taste is a highly recommended stop. It's a step above standard beach grub and a favorite...

Read moreMeh. Is the best i can offer. Joined a friend for a snack and we each had the Crab and corn chowder....8oz soup for 6 bucks is a little high priced but the build out is beautiful and you obviously pay for that. Choosing a table (the cleanest i could find as all of them were "dirty") the crumbs and refuse from the previous diners was more than evident. Pricing suggests that there would be some level of service but it's counter service an i'd like to say that you get what you pay for but i don't think we did. I won't choose Taste again based on this experience. The chowder TASTED (see what i did there) like chowder in that it was made with milk and something that smelled like crab but the "crab" was negligible which wouldn't have been a total deal breaker but no potatoes, relatively no corn (both of which are pretty cheap as ingredients go) if you want to "clean up" your dining refuse you have to truly seek out a trash can to throw it in which was an indicator to this seasoned veteran of the business that they are trying to CLOSE the business and not have to empty multiple refuse cans...which would have been fine if they were "bussing" the tables or at the very least making it easier for you to do so (as previously referenced i now know why the people that sat at APPARENTLY all of the tables before us didn't bother.) Maybe if you go at lunch when they mnake their money it's a good experience but as far as i can see anything after 2 o'clock is a contribution to their...
