So we have been coming here annually since 2020. We have had great food but stayed away from the fries because they sit under heat lamps and are not made to order. We questioned it last time and we literally asked for fresh fries and watched them pull them out of the same bowl that had been sitting there.. so avoid the fries. Anyways, We were staying at the hotel that houses the restaurant and figured we’d give it another try. We are here tonight 7/1 on a slow night and will never be back again. When we went to check in for dinner the hostesses were very busy on their phones and didn’t engage us until I “interrupted “ what ever they were doing on their phones. They seemed annoyed but sat us in Jessica’s section outside. Unfortunately, Jessica has single handedly provided the worst experience ever. It started when we were ordering drinks. I ordered a beer that was on the menu that was out despite them providing a QR code with the active draft list. Not the end of the world but if you are going to provide a QR code, keep the list up to date. My wife asked if they could do a skinny margarita's, she said absolutely. It was basically a house margarita that was so sweet…. which we verified when we received the bill. Margarita with house tequila… I honestly don’t care if you can’t do it, just be honest about it and don’t put it in as margarita with house tequila. We ordered egg rolls which came out great. We had to ask for side plates as our waitress never provided them after the order arrived. Jessica came by our table multiple times after we finished our app and never bothered to grab the empty app basket or our plates. We both ordered sandwiches and asked if they could do a Cesar salad instead of fries. She said absolutely. So fast forward to someone from the kitchen bringing out our food, both had garden salads which looked amazing but are not what we ordered. When we explained it to the gentleman who brought out our food, he apologized for the mistake and said he’d be right back with Cesar. They ended up coming after we were done with our meal. Jessica at this point is nowhere to be found and never came to ask us how our food(app or entree) was. Her exact quote was not how is your food, I apologize for the salad issue, it was a condescending tone if we needed anything else. She clearly didn’t want to be there and her attitude showed it. Our bill showed up and it was garden salad, not Cesar so not the kitchens fault.. Sadly, this will be our last visit and there are plenty of places in VA beach that want your business and have amazing service, this is not the place anymore. Look elsewhere and you will be...
Read moreI wanted to come back here sooo bad because I came here four or five years ago with a group of girlfriends and we had an AMAZING time. In fact it was the first spot we hit upon arrival and all of us were totally captivated by the lush beautiful outside dining area of LH—complete with a garden of tropical plants and colorful flowers, lounge couches surrounding multiple fire pits and table umbrellas for protection from both blistering sun and sudden summer rain. Unfortunately, it's changed😩 ..
For one thing it's way too expensive for what essentially amounted to a SNACK BREAK for 2, from the beach. $100 tab for a crab cake, nachos and four drinks! The food was not what I remembered either... I had nachos, but the shrimp that came with it were not fried or roasted or have any of the little charred bits on the side you'd expect for nachos.. especially nachos served at a beachfront restaurant sporting FIRE PITS! It was like they were steamed. Limp and soggy.. Completely inedible. The texture was more appropriate for shrimp cocktails or in a seafood salad. The crab cakes were also mediocre, def not worth almost 50 bucks. Service sucked. You are paying top $ for the atmosphere, beachfront views and proximity to the beach, but there are literally COUNTLESS superior options all up and down the boardwalk's 3+ mile stretch. I'm guessing the only reason they do so well, is partially due to their incredible success luring in clueless tourists, rightfully mesmerized by not only the surrounding views but the atmosphere offered sitting in their outdoor area. But then again I had a great experience last time, and I noticed that a few locals have vouched for it in the reviews so I'm hoping this visit was a fluke. Maybe the timing of our visit (early June) played a role as well since it was slightly before peak season (with fewer crowds so maybe fewer wait staff and cooks perhaps ??) and for much of this recent trip the weather was overcast and slightly cooler than one would expect at the beach. But it's waaay too overpriced to find out.
⭐When making your decision please check out reviews posted RECENTLY (from no later than the past 6 months), not just the reviews posted many years EARLIER! There is a VAST difference in customer satisfaction, and these are sprinkled throughout among each other. Choose filter option of all reviews during specific dates, rather than considering ALL reviews ever posted. Many points of my dissatisfaction are echoed by others posting very recently.⭐
Won't be back for anything other than drinks during late evening when the fire pits are lit and sometimes there's live music...
Read moreWaited 45 minutes to get in, hostess never called us to be seated. Took us actually going to them to ask how much longer, since we saw people going up and being seated, and then the hostess says she could seat us at that point. Walked by several open tables, which says they forgot about us.
Ordered a drink, bartender made the wrong drink, waited an exceptionally long period for correct one to be delivered. Service for food was painfully slow. When you have to break out a snack pack of crackers while waiting on an appetizer of pretzels and onion rings, something is seriously wrong.
Almost an hour and a half, we finally got our burgers... YES... burgers is what took this long. Mine, the crab meat (little bit there was) had a decent flavor, but that didn't make up for the extremely bland and greasy burger. I couldn't even finish half of my burger before I was unable to stomach anymore without feeling sick. Both my wife and one stepdaughter's burgers were the same way. My other stepdaughter got the fish and chips, only to find the fish was mushy.
Tab came out to $109 for 3 small pretzels, onion rings, 3 burgers, a fish and chips, and two daiquiris. Our waitress was very nice and apologetic, which is the only saving grace for the place not getting a one star review. Worst part is that she said she would bring up everything to the manager, but he never came to the table, just used her as the messenger. We watched as he never even left the pass. When customers are having that bad of an experience, it would be a show of professionalism for the manager to come talk to them. I will not even begin to consider giving this place a second chance, and would definitely put it on my...
