If you're visiting Chicago and looking for a spot that truly captures the essence of a classic pub, The Embassy on West Taylor Street is a must-visit. From the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed with open arms—not just by the friendly staff but by the regulars as well, creating an atmosphere that felt warm and genuinely inviting. As out-of-towners, it's always a bit intimidating to find a place that feels like home, but The Embassy made us feel like locals from the start.
We grabbed a couple of beers and ordered the fish and chips, which were nothing short of fantastic. The fish was perfectly battered, crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, and paired wonderfully with golden fries. It’s clear they put care into their food. It’s not just about the drinks, though—this place has a vibe that’s tough to beat. The combination of great food, a stellar selection of beers, and the genuine hospitality from both staff and patrons made our visit memorable.
We left feeling like we'd found a true gem in Chicago, and we can’t wait to come back next time we’re in town. Highly...

Spot on Guinness literally tastes like what you’d get at in Ireland, I checked 😌
Fantastic Irish Breakfast All Day till the kitchen closes. Even has a halal option for those who don’t eat pork like me. Want something lighter for breakfast, they do an Irish Breakfast Sandwich and an Egg Sandwich all amazing.
Curry Fries are phenomenal too.
Burgers are amazing.
If you want a healthier choice the Chicken Caesar Wrap is great too.
Fish and Chips; Nice and Crisp with Malt Vinegar.
I don’t think I’ve ever actually had a bad time here and I’ve come at least 3 times a week since they’ve opened.
They have Nonalcoholic Guinness too and they make a great Martini and other cocktails as well.
I’m on that student budget and everything is affordable as well.
I’ve been told Shepard’s Pie is on...
Read moreThis is hands down my favorite pub and our trip to the area. The vibes are cozy and comfortable. The drinks are great and they have an amazing selection on tap, there's something for everyone, even those that say they don't do beer.
The hospitality is amazing. The bartender whose name I forget was amazing and had a very sweet accent to tie the place in. The person who I can only assume was the owner was super welcoming. It honestly made me feel like a local and wished I had a bar like this back home in LA.
My group and I were trying to find a place to catch the game while we were away from home and these two made every effort to make sure we were accommodated and had an amazing time. He even went as far as putting the game on every screen that was visible to our table and turned up the volume, which is much better than a lot of the bars back home.
Hands down best stop on our trip. Make a point to stop by and check out the bar if you're...
