The ambiance in this restaurant is so nice. Very nice visuals inside and out. A great place for brunch, lunch or dinner. So I had a reservation for 10:30. We arrived at 10:15. The door was open and we walked to the reception stand to be seated. Long story short, after 5 mins of standing there and waiting to be sat. Lexi(who ended up being our waitress) saw us, made eye contact and continued food prepping or something in the kitchen, then proceeded to get dressed in her work uniform while we stood there watching her dress herself in the kitchen, all while not being sat or greeted. About 2 mins later Sam, unsure her position comes over and says "I'm sorry, we aren't open". I said, it would have been nice for someone to say that. There was another employee sitting at a table- she looked at us as well and did not say anything prior to Sam approaching us. Instantly- this is not the pleasant experience we were anticipating within the first 7 mins of being there.
We didn't know what to do and Sam didn't say since we were now only 9 mins early that we could continue to wait inside- my friend and I walked outside to stand and wait until 10:30. Marie-Laure approaches at about 10:26, smiles big and bright and ask if we needed anything- omg, finally someone that is showing some sort of customer service to us. She treated us with basic human decency. Up until that moment, we felt kinda ignored by the staff inside. She sat us at a table and apologized for what had happened after I mentioned my dismay. So very understanding of what I explained.
Our waitress came over after we were sat by MarieLaure and asked if we wanted drinks. I had to ask her name because she didn't tell us her name nor was she wearing a name tag or anything. Lexie she says, same person we saw earlier who saw us standing there confused and waiting. Lexie was a very nice young lady. We were able to eat our entire appetizer of hummus before she came back to ask for our order. Service was definitely sub par considering the price point of the food and the location of the restaurant. Like how did we take 20-30 mins to eat that appetizer and not see our waitress to place our entree order? She had a very pleasant personality but the experience wasn't what I'd expect.
I feel this review is necessary as we can not charge patrons Mercedes brunch prices but have Hyundai customer service - the food was great but the feeling of being ignored and gawked at initially is why I'm unable to give 5 stars; had the service been like MarieLaure's as our first impression, it would be. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and I'm sure a touch up on being ready to work in proper attire, how to interact with early arrivals, and timing for food orders should be discussed amongst management.
Great food...
Read moreHorrible experience as someone with an allergy. I came here specifically due to the positive reviews re food allergies and because their advertisements as a healthy restaurant made me feel like they could properly handle my one allergy (avocado). I informed the waiter prior to ordering and she assured me that both my appetizer and entree would be allergen free. I asked about the oil used and whether it would be avocado or olive oil, and she assured me it would be only olive oil. However, they brought the appetizer out only to tell me it had my allergen in it (via avocado oil). And seemed a little confused when I said then I (obviously??) couldn’t eat it. I asked then multiple times to be sure that my entree would be allergen free and was again assured repeatedly it would be. I asked if avocado oil would be used on the entree (pizza) and she said that only olive oil would be used. We waited again and eventually they brought the entree to the table only to simultaneously tell me it had the allergen in it. But asked if I wanted to try it. ??? I am allergic! At this point it had been approx 1 hour at the restaurant. It was such a waste of time that could have been solved by telling us when we arrived that they could not accommodate my allergy. The waiter, manager, and chef all came by and not one of them appropriately handled the situation. I was asked multiple times if I wanted the food even though they all said it had my allergen in it. They seemed to completely not understand allergies which made me very upset because I feel like that is part of their branding and something they capitalize on. My friend asked for a box to take their food to go so I could go eat somewhere else. When the check was delivered the waiter commented that they took my food off the receipt….mind you, I didn’t eat a single bite in the hour I was there because they were unable to prepare allergen free food. They did not discount my friend’s food or take off my drink etc so this felt like a very unnecessary comment. Definitely do not recommend if you have a serious allergy, care about knowing the ingredients that are in your food, or want restaurant staff who are knowledgeable about the food they are serving. Also, if you have an avocado allergy, please know that EVERY item on the menu is prepared with an avocado+olive oil blend. The chef (who only came out as we are about to leave and was not involved before then, even when we sent the appetizer back and asked to make sure the entree would be safe) said the only food he could prepare without avocado in it was a salad, but I am assuming there would be no meat or dressing because those are also cooked with...
Read moreMy husband and I were going out to lunch today and originally were going to go to Howleys however when we got there their parking was full and we decided to try a new place. We googled vegetarian places near us and this place popped up. Upon walking up to the restaurant they had a nice seating area for outside dining but being it’s Florida and it was warmer we chose to eat inside. The host greeted us warmly and walked us to our seats i would say that’s where the pleasant experienced ended. Our server came to the table took our drink order which were two warm teas and brought them back promptly. No sweetener or cream was provided and we were not asked if we would like any. I ordered the grass fed burger with fingerling potatoes and my husband ordered the ancient grains bowl with tempeh. A gentleman brought it out pretty quickly to the table. My husband enjoyed his meal but I feel like for $20 my food was not worth it. I opted for the bed of lettuce instead of a bun and the lettuce came throw on top of the burger. I asked for the fingerling potatoes and my plate had 7 potatoes on it. It wasn’t seasoned with anything and was bland. Our server never came to check in on us or ask us how the food was. She spent most of her time behind the bar talking and making drinks. So maybe they were short staffed. When she brought the check she placed it face down next to my husband and then asked us if we wanted anything else. We both declined and she left again. Some time had passed and she came back to the table and I said we were getting ready to leave she didn’t state that she would take the check or she would cash us out she just walked away. With it being our first time there we didn’t know how to pay for our meal so we got up from our table and headed towards the hostess to ask. Our server who was behind the bar very loudly said I take the check you have to pay me we don’t have a machine. I stated that how was I supposed to know that? That I had told her I was going to leave and she walked away from the table. Then she said I was waiting for you to put your card down and then I repeated that I had stated I was going to leave and she just walked away. I don’t think I would return to this restaurant the service definitely did not match the cost...
