Our visit to Euro Cafe in West Yellowstone, Montana, was unfortunately a highly unpleasant experience that I feel compelled to share. Our group of seven adults and two children had hoped for a welcoming dining atmosphere, but instead, we were met with inexcusably poor customer service.
Upon arrival, we were immediately struck by the staff's unwelcoming demeanor. The hostess, in particular, seemed irritated by our presence, as if our patronage was an inconvenience rather than the purpose of their business. When seating us, she was inflexible and authoritarian, insisting we sit tightly together at a specific table despite our polite request for alternative seating arrangements that would have been more comfortable for our group.
The situation deteriorated further as we attempted to place our orders. The server's impatience was palpable, rushing through the process without allowing each member of our party adequate time to decide. When it came to my turn, she abruptly moved on before I could even speak. Frustrated by this treatment, I approached the cashier separately to place my order, an extra step that should never be necessary in a well-run establishment.
The final straw came when the server began lecturing us on proper restaurant behavior, as if we were unruly children rather than paying adult customers. At this point, I'd had enough of the disrespect and requested to cancel my order. The server's response was to shout angrily at the kitchen staff to cancel the order, further demonstrating her lack of professionalism.
While I hesitate to make accusations, the stark difference in treatment we received compared to other patrons raised uncomfortable questions. As our group was visibly of a different racial background than the staff, it's difficult not to wonder if unconscious bias or outright racism played a role in our mistreatment. If this wasn't the case, then the only other explanation I can fathom is that the server was dealing with significant personal issues that severely impacted her ability to interact appropriately with customers.
In conclusion, I cannot in good conscience recommend Euro Cafe to anyone visiting West Yellowstone. A dining establishment that allows its staff to treat customers with such blatant disrespect, regardless of the underlying reason, does not deserve patronage. I sincerely hope that the management takes this feedback seriously and implements the necessary changes to ensure all future guests are treated with the dignity and respect they...
Read moreSerious, I’ve left maybe three reviews in my life and this is one of the only times I’ve ever made extra special effort to write on a napkin the names of the server and chef for the manager and owner. You have simply just got to try this place, the prices are excellent, but that shouldn’t be what gets you in. The food is truly exceptional, satisfying, and clean.
Our family group was fairly large and they had no trouble making us at home. Between us we all started sharing, out of the norm, and we tried everything. We kept ordering more, actually eating past when we were a little full; such a treat. All the veggies and the fruits and meats were fresh as it gets, and it was all worth complementing them on. The skillets were amazing, the burger was incredible, the fries are to die for, and their french toast…I was expecting basic enjoyment from my meal(s) from the sign and size of the joint, but I couldn’t get over it, it needed no syrup.
I wrote on the napkin note that this place needs more advertising and gave them minor ideas on pricing the sides and the typos in the menu, because I personally want more people to walk in and have the dining experience I had at this little cafe. Every year I come up I am coming here no questions about it, same for my whole family. Best in west and I’ve tried just...
Read moreThis cafe is located outside Yellowstone park in the small down of West Yellowstone. I try to always give the benefit of the doubt, but one a second attempt to have a better interaction, and it's is poor again, I can't help but give a low review. We visited in Aug 2020 (place appeared to be for sale) around 8am and it was empty. We requested a two espresso drinks. A latte and an extra dry cappuccino, and a scone. While we waited for our order, I used the restroom which was nice and clean. When we were handed our order and returned to our car and drove off, we noticed the scone we received in the bag was broken and very small. Ok they have very small portions from any other place we purchased a scone in the last 2000 miles of driving that week. Noted. the dry cappuccino had no foam and was filled with coffee grounds. We circle back through town and present the drink to the girl behind the counter. She turns and speaks to someone out of sight that we are complaining about the drink and that there are coffee grounds. I think this is a training issue as I saw the machine they used to make the espresso. It's not hard to get right. Drink was replaced with no apologies or even any attempt of communicating they made a mistake. Oh well. Not to return. Hopefully new ownership will train employees...
