I could not recommend this place less. It doesn't matter how good your food is if your customer service is terrible.
I'll never understand being short and rude with customers, especially when the customers are polite and asking simple questions about the menu. Our customer service experience was terrible at Ernie's Bakery. The person taking our order kept dismissing our questions by waving at the menu. For perspective, I asked: Do you have a kids menu? How large is your French bread please? (As I was planning on splitting between two children since there apparently wasn't a kids menu.)
Additionally, I said I'd like an Italian without the veggies. And the response was to just build my own. "Just tell me what you want." (SO short and rude!) After I told him what I wanted he started to say "that's just a....(as he aggressively crumpled up the paper)." And I'm thinking EXACTLY, an Italian without the veggies. You should have listened to your customer instead of interrupting and pointing to the menu AGAIN. Craziness. There was no signage about any limitations to their lunch menu, but when I asked for a burger please I was told they were only serving cold food. I said, ok! It wasn't a problem for me, but I needed to make a quick phone call and ask people in the car what else they would like. He acted all annoyed by that! A simple sign outlining the change in the availability of some menu items and your customers can come up to the counter prepared.
The icing on the cake for me is the endorsing of this behavior by who I can only assume is the owner. The employee who took our order clearly said something rude about us to the assumed owner and they both chuckled and looked at us. And then they repeated this behavior again a few minutes later. I mean, really???!!! How incredibly unprofessional. You should check your staff before you assume your customers did something wrong. Did I look disgruntled? Of course I did and am.
I was looking for a local restaurant to support for the 7 people in my party and let's just say I will not be back and I do...
Read moreThe ultimate breakfast sandwich is sooo good! The breakfast burrito was one of my favorites because it was cheesy gooey goodness. The iced chai was good. The raspberry donut had the filling in the ring which was unique and delicious. The box lunch is a great value for all you get. We got the sandwiches only the second day because we had leftover snacks from the day before. The only downfall during our visits was the biscuit. It was hard & cold. Other people said that in reviews but we wanted to see for ourselves. Get something else cuz everything else was delish. Just some info: The line at 8 am the first day was only 2 people. The second day we went earlier at 7:20am and the line was 20 people deep and it took us 30 min to order and 15 min to get our food which was fine with us. (They said they were short one staff member this day so they did apologize). Just know if you’re in a hurry, there may be a wait because everyone else likes the convenience of getting breakfast & lunch in one place. My small gripe is they charge a 3% credit card fee and I didn’t see a sign stating that or I would have used cash. The other restaurant we went to for dinner did this too, so maybe it’s a known thing in this tourist area, not sure. Either way, we will recommend this place to our friends who will visit the area. They also had a large variety of to go drinks and snacks for purchase. They have 2 bathrooms that are decorated so cute but one of the sinks barely...
Read moreWe came here about 7 years ago and thought it would be nice to stop in again while in the area. We paid average prices for food (about $30 for two breakfasts and drinks), but were served on paper plates with plastic utensils! We had to get up numerous times for the basics. Ketchup, coffee refills, sugar, cream. Only napkins are provided on the table. There was zero table service here! We had a baby with us, struggling to eat with them in arms. I got up to look for a highchair, but couldn't find one in the eating area. Located it only at the end of our visit, near restroom. This really should have been mentioned by staff, or noticed. I guess with being this close to Yellowstone they don't need to worry about impressing the locals. Their little cuts might save them money, and with the amount of people in and out while we ate...I'm sure they're not struggling. Looks cute from the outside, but would skip next time. They have a half-French/American thing going, but we both lived in France for years....this would never happen in there! It's like being served wine in a plastic cup, what are they thinking! It's turned more into a fast food stop for sure, but with the prices of a sit down restaurant! I hope they shape up and start treating their sit-down customers like...
