Stopped by the Honkytonk bar in Wildwood around 2 o’clock on a quiet afternoon, and I’ve got to say, it’s got potential. The place itself is beautiful—rustic charm with a hint of something more modern, and it’s clear they’ve put a lot of thought into the design. But there’s something off, like a song that’s just a bit out of tune.
The bar was nearly empty when I arrived, which wasn’t a surprise given the time. I settled in, ordered a couple of beers, and some cheese curds. The curds were pretty tasty, and the price was fair, especially considering they’ve got daily specials, which was a pleasant surprise. But the service… well, it was slow, even with plenty of staff on hand. My waitress was friendly, though, which made the wait bearable.
What really got me were the barstools. Metal, uncomfortable, and not something you can lean back in without regretting it. They had a couple of leather sofas that looked like they could be perfect for a lazy afternoon, but those were roped off for VIPs. A bit of a letdown, honestly.
I liked the open kitchen, but it felt like the guys back there were more interested in chatting with each other than getting food out. Maybe it’s just the newness of the place—growing pains and all that. With a bit of investment in some comfortable seating and a focus on tightening up the service, this place could really hit its stride. For now, though, it’s a mixed bag—good, but with room to grow. I’m glad it’s here, and I’ll be back, hoping...
Read moreTo say this is a tourist trap would be a compliment. Stay with me.. So supposedly to take a advantage of the cowboy niche this place is all country so you'll need to pay a $5 cover charge just to get in for "live music" thats in addition to what they'll get you for to eat and drink. Well last Friday night that live music was supposed to be 8-10 but after 45 mins the "music" took and 45 min break resulting in a net "live music of maybe an hour. Which all in all was not such a bad thing considering how bad it was. On to the food... horrible and way over priced with horrible service. Order buffalo wings and was served bbq.. no bug deal we politely brought it the servers attention who took it back to the kitchen only to be brought back out by a woman saying this is what was ordered and literally dropped it back on our table. When we asked are young nice server what that was about he apologized saying it was his mistake and that the kitchen management is horrible. Well you would think that would have solved it but nope same lady brought out the same plate of wings. And when I say wings that is very loosely. They're boneless soggy and tasteless, whether buffalo OR BBQ. Lastly the drinks.. honestly I could go on forever, lets just say go to a better tourist trap and overpay somewhere they treat you like a customer. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT GIVE THIS PEOPLE YOUR HARD...
Read moreMy husband comes here every year for the firemen convention. We always have a great time, have great bartenders, and tip them well because we know the chaos that the convention brings.
This bar is super cool. The vibes are great, however, the bar is severely lacking in the bartender dept. our first order was wrong. I didn't say anything because I'm not really picky when it comes to our drinks. It look probably another hour to get another round. I ordered two miller lites and a white gummy bear drink. The bar tender put two millers in front of the guy next to us and then the gummy bear.
I went to grab the two millers and the guy next to me was super rude. When i told bartender that i had also ordered two millers she proceeded to argue with me. She then grabbed the millers and slammed them on the bar getting beer all over me. I wish i knew her name to add to this review, but she needs some SEVERE customer service training. I NEVER not leave a tip but i left a $0 tip and left a book on the receipt. I hope a manager sees this. I honestly don't even know if i ended up paying for the beer because i was seeing red at that point.
So, while this place is super chill, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD...
